I bought my first geared bike the other day and i rode it around my estate and went down a gear too fast and the engine started howling and then cut out, it wouldnt start after this and still hasnt for the past two days. i took the spark plug out, cleaned it and left it out for a while to get the fumes out of the cylinder. when i put it back in it still wouldnt start. when i got home i took the fuel pipe going from the tank to the carb, out of the carb and turned the petrol tap on but no petrol came out. so i emptied the tank and cleaned out the tap and realised it had sand blocking it. i unblocked it and dried it out. then put it back together. i then turned the tap on and the petrol started running through and into the carb and out the overflow pipe. its only had a new piston in it quite recently so maybe i snapped the ringwhen going down the gears ? but as i looked at the bike again today i tried starting it and it ticked over for about two seconds then cut out . i realised petrol dripping from near the manifold, and saw that where the exhaust connected it had gaps in between the two bolts. could this cause a loss of compression? hence the bike not starting? or could anything else be wrong. thankyou.
