My 2004 Suzuki VL-800 cuts out when attempting to go over 55 mph (Works fine below that.). Has worked fine for the 6 mo. I've owned it. 44,000 miles and may have Never had new spark plugs. Yesterday, I gunned it while traveling up a mile-long bridge span (40 to 75 mph in a short time). 1 hour later, problem started. Shifting down to 4th gear, the bike still won't go over 55 mph. Also, just fill the tank with regular gas (always have used regular gas, but never pushed performance like yeaterday) Could it be spark plugs, fuel pump, ignition. Tested without air cleaner -- no help.
Hi ..... Go through the above list, pay particular attention to fuel delivery ie blocked breather in tank, any filter fitted to tap or change in line filter if fitted. Easy to check, take off fuel delivery to carb (place container to catch fuel), start bike and fuel should come out a strong contant flow.

i have a similar prob. after i wash my bike or its been raining hard, it would't go over 50/60. turned out it was firing on one cylinder (the back only) coz the drain hole was blocked in the casing keeping the plug surrounded in water. if this what is happening to you, dont go too far or (like mine) your bottom muffler will go blue. hmph....... My motorcycle starts cutting out when I hit 55 mph. Not real bad, but noticeable. I can get up to 70, but it seams like it struggles to get there
check eletrical system
check spark plug gaps
check coil
check if brakes binding
check transmission fluid level (if wet)
check clutch adjustment
check fuel filter
check fuel
check compression
check fuel lines
check for obstruction in exhaust
any emissions stuff - if so, check
seems to be common with the 1250 bandit, the fuel pump seems faulty ordered a new one and within an hr same problem, bike will barely reach 80 mph and can only give it 1/4 throttle before it cuts out. it is fuel injected and has an inner tank fuel pump.
