Chec battery-must always be at 12.6volts-any lower and bike wont function--inspect connections for corrosion--also make sure carb and fuel delivery are correct

SOURCE: 2005 ktm 450 sx die while riding.

yes, you are correct, those are the two pieces that could solve your problem, but i would go first for your cdi, you may choose to have it tested first also, before you jump out to buy a new one.

The side stand kill switch can go bad and do this. Check the switch with an Ohm meter. Also, check the wiring harness connections. Fix any loose connections. Check the handlebar kill switch. It can go bad also.

SOURCE: i have a 1990 CDI-box and need to know whate wire

Have fun, I don't know why it can't be as simple as just install the part and put it back together. You will have to swap wires around until you find the right combination.
Hope this helps.

My 1980 pe 250 is getting fire from magnetio to cdi box but not to coil put new cdi box off a running pe 250 and still no fire to coil

Check the coil. Swap it with another if possible to check. Sometimes coils fail short-circuit on the primary. If so, you will see no signal from the CDI when attached to the coil.

Kx 250 1994 wont make spark to run the coil, spark plug, cdl box flywheel is all fine its in the bottom end

could be a dead plug or bad cdi box or on the rotor or flywheel there is a sensor and it passes the pickup and that sends the spark to the cdi box and then to the plug make sure on the flywheel the sensor and pickup doesn`t have dirt or rust or corrosion that might keep it from making contact if so use fine emery cloth to polish it until it is shiny

I replaced the cylinder and piston and rings on my 98 yz 125

You may have not tightened coil and coil wire screws enough. 2 strokers are notorious for vibrating their bolts loose. Bad earth will nullify spark. Check for clean connections on all leads from crank to coil and CDI unit. Is plug and cap 100%. Check top end gaskets if any sign of moisture on sparkplug.

The float pin may be worn and extending out past ends and jamming on carby housing. Take out and roll on flat surface and look for defects. Ensure float tab (bears on needle) is not notched from wear or bent too far. Clean seat and needle are essential, replace if suspect. Spray some carby cleaner thru fuel line entry whilst you have floatbowl off to clear any sediment or debris. (especially fuel scale or air filter foam)
Cheers.

if the coils and CDIs have been replaced, you may want to check your wiring, this is usually caused by a damaged like grounding the frame and affecting the spark.

My 1974 250 2 stroke will not start. I have a new

With a bike that is 35 years old lots of things could be the problem. I will list what to look for in a "most likely" sequence but with a mind to some of the easy things to check first.
  • Got gas and is it turned on? Clean air filter?
  • Have a buddy kick the starter while you look for spark.
  • Assuming no spark, How good is your battery? Fuses good? Kill switch on or shorted to the bars or elsewhere?
  • carb, head, intake manifold and carb mounted tight?
  • Does the carb intake manifold have reeds? What condition are they in?
  • I don't recall for sure, does the bike have CDI? If so, have the dealer test it and the coil.
  • If no CDI, when was the last time the points and condenser were replaced or points filed and set? Get the coil checked.
  • Remove the flywheel cover. Take hold of the flywheel and, without turning the wheel, lift the flywheel up and down then left and right. Any movement or was the flywheel rock solid? If movement then the crank bearings need replaced along with the crank seals.
  • Speaking of crank seals, how old are your seals? The bike ain't gonna run with bad seals.
This is a pretty good list of things that should keep you busy for a few hours. Wish I were there to help. It's been a long time since I serviced an old Yamaha 250. I was a shop mechanic for ten years.

Let me know what you find out.
