Push starter button and no start

Riding my fj1100 one day, had been starting fine until i came back home for about 30 min. got off of the bike, then to leave again turn the key on hit the starter button and nothing. i have new battery, tail light comes on, nutral indicator, comes on, horn works, and turn signals are barely working, not worried about them as much, just want it to start. also the head light,is it supposed to come on first when you turn key on or after the bike starts. please help if can, bike runs good, i just bought it. want to ride when time comes.. thanks.

96 model. Started the bike for a sundaytrip and stopped after 150m to buy something in a local kiosk. Then when i got back to the bike the starter was dead.

Battery seems to be working. All the lights work as usual, but nothing happens when i hit the start button at all.

Hello,
Evansville! Nice part of the World.
Bud's Harley Shop still there?
O.k. daft thing is the off run switch on the handlebars turned to off?
Failing this will the bike start and run off bumping (Push start).
If it does take a look at the battery (Maybe Dead cell/s) or Starter solenoid wire/fuse.
Solenoid is located near the battery it is the cylindrical item with the main pos+ wire from battery going to it.
Good Luck! could do with a new Bud's Harley 'T' shirt as mines worn out.

No power to starter after riding the bike a few day ago checked every wire on bike and still getting nothing

  1. Check your starter relay fuse. It's probably blown. If not that, (and you obviously have checked for power to the relay fuse when you push the start button, right?) then you should replace the starter relay. $10 to $20, 30 minute job if it's your first time.

XV1100 Starter does not engage when trinig to start engin

sorry didn't actually see the post before my first comment, if it is only when the bike is warm or hot but not over heated I would suspect the same thing, faulty starter. "replace or rebuild"

The bike was running fine in the evening. Rode to work parked the bike took the key out. The battery was dead in the morning. Put the 10 amp charger on and the motor started to turn over with the key off!...

your starter button is malfunctioning. maybe some oxidation in the switch. when starter button is pressed in that can cause your other electrical stuff to not work.

When I push the electric start button on my 2004

use a test light to find out if there is power going to the starter. take the rubber cover off the top of the selonoid. it should be some where near the battery. one post of the selonoid should have power constantly and the other one should not untill the start button is depressed. if the light lights when you hit the button, there is either a problem with the power cable going to the starter or the starter its self.

Suzuki 1400 intruder wont start.. just clicking noise.

It's most likely the connection to the battery. The screws dont tighten in well and you get the famous clicking....I replaced the stock philips screws with a hex bolt and after two years of trying to solve the problen have been starting everytime for the past year no problems. Another gie away is the intermitant starting problem gets worse when wet.
