The best place to find it is the service manual. if not avail. i usually 1, tighten it to ~10-20Nm in a 'outwards spiral' fashion, ie start tightening from centre bolts outwards. 2, spiral tighten by 1/4 turn, 3, another 1/4 turn, and 4, final 1/4 turn.

I HAVE A KTM 450 EXE 2004 MODEL AND I HAD TO REPLACE MY HEAD GASKET ANWATER PUMP SEALS AND NOW IVE GOT THE TINYEST DRIP OF COOLANT DRIPPING DOWN BEHIND THE FLY WHEEL WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS ?

It's a bad seal of the head gasket. You need a new head gasket and to scrape every particle of debris from the cylinder head and cylinder surfaces that mate with the head gasket. Use the factory specified gasket sealing compound and do a clean job - no blobs or pools of the stuff. The head gasket should lay flat on the surface of the top of the cylinder, and you have to make this surface free of grit, leftover sealant and any other foreign matter before you put the head in place and torque it down. Start with the head bolts just finger tight and then go by the manufacturer's specs for the pattern and amount of torque to be applied. Usually it is recommended that you get to the specified torque amount in stages, going around several times and repeating the torque pattern until you get that maximum rated amount. This will prevent the seal from shifting or warping and should make the gasket seal perfectly. This is the old school method of doing this job. and I have never seen this fail to produce good results. Take your time, be clean, and you will have the results you want.

I need to know torque specs and torque pattern for a 2001 head gasket on my 2001 sunfire

HINT: The "torque pattern" on ALL cylinder heads is start in the center and work your way toward the ends. The specifications below are "torque-to yield" or "torque angle" specs. When in doubt, about 65 Ft. Lbs. will work on pretty much ANY aluminum head. The main point is to get them EVEN to prevent warpage.

Oil leak in engine.Replaced the head gasket now oil is leaking somewhere in the engine. put in new head bolts 2 times but couldn't torque to specs. Why is there oil leaking and how can I find out what the...

Well, you might check the real main seals. Also, if you cant torque them to specs, the head could still be leaking. Your best bet is to lay a piece of cardboard under it and see where the oil drips from. Then trace the leak up from there. Otherwise, raking it to a shop might be your only resort. Good Luck.

1996 5.7 running to rich after replacing the heads, distriputer,plugs wires valvegaskets but now mprs about 8 miles and blacksmoke pretty bad increasing to around 3000rpms and missing often at a idle

I have to ask you few tough questions. You may reply via email later.

Did you send the heads out to CNC milling and re-seat all the valves?

Did you use new head bolts?

Did you use Indian Head (picture on the bottle) head gasket sealer?

Did you torque the bolts in the correct pattern and pressure?

====

The first thing to check is the intake manifold gasket leak.
Used a little Berman clear to spot check for leak around the manifold leak(s)

====

Monitor the coolant and oil level.

====

Black smoke is un-burn fuel.

Did you inspect the injectors?

Did you change the Fuel Rail O-Rings.

A dripping or poor spray pattern can lead to all the problems you posted.

===

I would use a bottle of Lucas or Seafoam fuel system cleaner and hope it's just few poor performing injectors.

Please email me you answers and I will have a better picture on hold to trouble shoot you Chevy.

Good Luck
