Motor condensation I have a buildup under my oil cap. The place that changes my oil tells me that it is a common problem and that i need a system flush. They charge 100 is there an easier less expensive way to fix this problem?

This normally happens in vehicles that are driven in town  making short trips the  problem is the engine never gets enough time to evaporate the moisture from in side the engine after time this shows on the bottom of your oil cap and in side the block the best thing to prevent this is occasional  highway  driving  30 minutes or more at operating temp  i would not recommend  a engine flush

Don't get your system flushed .........do you frequently pull in and out of a garage? you might consider spending a little more cents to the gallon and buy chevron gas. their gas is more expensive because they have techron in it. it is a fuel additive that helps keep valves and rings clean. or you can buy techron . heat also removes any condensation build up in the gas tank and gas

aaangie220 had it on the t. except its PCV valve . positive crankcase ventilation valve. you can also check it by unplugging it while the vehicle is running(located on the valve cover) putting your thumb over the hole and if no suction replace. probably about $4.00

Yeah dont worry about it. when you change your oil, as long as the oils hot, most condensation gets drained. the rest evaporates.

Yes the condesation is normal with that particular motor. there is an easier alternative. change the Positive Crankcase Valve (PCV). and buy a 5-minute motor flush quart from a parts store. then change the oil again. or take these parts to a different auto shop and start a fresh new relationship. a new auto shop will take your business and be reasonable about their prices too.

I need to know how to tell if i have a blown head \head gasket

If you car is overheating often and white smoke come out the tail pipe when running, good chance it is. Easiest way it to check is the fluid in the radiator - look for oil floating on the top. If your cooling reservoir (off white container connected by a smaller black hose to the radiator) has fluid in it, check it or you can open the radiator cap (only when the engine is cool - hasn't been running - don't touch it until it's sat for a few hours if you used it) and use a turkey baster or similar to pull some fluid out. If you see some oil floating, it's most likely a head gasket.

No oil pressure showing on guage.changed sending unit.removed oil filler cap and found I have good oil pressure

removing the oil cap does not tell you what the oil pressure is, as the oil you see is not under pressure. you need to connect an oil pressure gage and check the pressure separate from the car system to check pressure and compare to spec.

Why would oil and water leak out of my Lincoln navigator 5.4l engine

Worse case this could be due to a blown head gasket - however let not jump to conclusions. Where is the oil coming from and did you have it changed recently? Water is common from the A/C condenser and or over fill of the wiper fluid or possibly rain / bad oil change place that "rinses the engine" with water to get excess oil off. If you did have your oil changed / car serviced, take it back and have them check it. Maybe it's a loose oil filter or loose oil drain plug / bad washer on the drain plug. If you haven't have the oil changed recently, did you hit anything or did the car over heat recently? To see if you blew a gasket, check your overflow tank coming off the radiator. Pop the cap and look inside to see if you see oil (not dirty water / coolant). Also check if the car is blowing blueish smoke or excessive white smoke when you drive / rev the motor. If not, hopefully your fine. Post more details and you'll get a better answer. Good luck!

How to do a oil change

Pull the drain plug, change the oil filter, replace the drain plug. Add oil until the dipstick reads full. Start the engine and make sure the oil light goes out. Check for leaks around the oil filter with the car running. Recheck the oil level, add as necessary. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. My 2000 Cadillac Catera is has water mixed with

Oil cooler under the intake plenum at rear top of engine is either bad or the gasket is gone. If you take oil filler cap off, you will see the paste on the cap. Are you going through coolant every so often?

Same as on my wife's 01.

Water in the oil

If you check the oil dipstick and the oil is clean, not milky , then the problem is simple. Condensation under the oil cap is normal on vehicle that are not driven often or do not get up to temperature. If the engine is not used then the moisture in the air collects at the high point of the engine. You can leave the oil cap loose if the vehicle is to be stores for a long period of time,This should help .
