In internal combustion engines, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is a nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions reduction technique used in petrol/gasoline and diesel engines.EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders. Thers a hose going down the rear of the engine to the exhaust pipe. It recirculates the portion of the gasses coming out of the engine by putting in back into the intake manifold, where the engine can burn it again, thereby reducing the emissions. The EGR valve is located in the engine compartment (underneath the hood). Usually on the side with the air intake manifold attatched to the side frame rail
Is it condensation or actual smoke? White smoke is associated with diesel mixed in petrol and with quite strong smells. I suspect that it is condensation as water vapor is a by product of combustion and the motor/exhaust will have to warm up to clear it. Check for water droplets at the end of the exhaust to confirm condensation. Burning oil will cause a blueish smoke to emit from exhausts.
In most cases smelling gas inside the car comes from air entering the venting system from the engine compartment. Just a few drops can cause a strong smell. And a small leak may be tough to find. It could be excess fuel going out the exhaust pipe, but your check engine light should be on if that were the case.
do u mean gas as in petrol??if it is petrol...then its leaking from the carbs..as this id the overflow pipe!!..if thats the case..then it sounds like the carbs may need cleaning. as they may be some muck in there thats stoping the floats from shuting.(carnt shut so overflows!!) this could make the bike backfire as still petrol going to engine when carbs shut so backsfire..or the back fire could be from the new exhaust .if its not seal'ed right on the manifolds it sucks air in & can make them pop & backfire when you shut the throttle(like when u shut throttle when coming up to a stop)....hope this helps...Howard
it may just be condensation. if its just a few drops at a time, its fine. if its like a stream leaving a wide trail, then you should go to an auto repair shop
Hi ...... If problem continues try switching petrol off at the tap overnight or when you stop the bike. Sounds like petrol is leaking pass the petrol tap and sitting in the bores and exhausts, soon as you start it up it's igniting in the pipes. Remove the plugs and the colour will indicate how the jetting is set up.
