The trans has to come out & come apart
& be gone thru to replace worn gear syncros
& any other parts

To be that bad in all gears, it hasn't been treated
very well

SOURCE: 1998 volkswagen jetta won't go into gear

Sounds like the clutch cable or spring has gone, but seeing as it went gradually probably the spring. It basically means that the clutch plate isn't lifting from against the big end, the grinding noise being the fact that you're forcing the car in to gear when the input shaft is still spinning. If you don't know how to take the gearbox off yourself then take it to a dealer, the way to get it to drive for now would have to be to start the car in first, or have someone bump it, the carefully work your way in to third by matching the gears before pushing the gearstick in. This is quite difficult and can do damage to your gearbox so be careful if you do this, otherwise get it towed.

SOURCE: 95 saturn sl 2 5 speed manual transmission, clutch

This vehicle has a pair of shift cables which attatches to the shifter and runs to the transmission shift housing. To diagnose, removal of the center console is in order so you can inspect and verify the shifter/cable connections and movement, then verify the cables move the linkages properly at the transmission . These cables are a fairly common failed part and sold as the set, these are a dealer item and no aftermarket cables are available .

SOURCE: 95 gmc sierra k1500 4x4 5spd manual noise

the leak is probably a separate issue from the noise. is the leak very bad? can you tell if it's engine oil or transmission lube/fluid? most likely the rear main bearing seal needs replacing. the noise is most likely the clutch release bearing. you should replace all components of the clutch assembly which include; clutch plate, pressure plate, release bearing and piolot bearing. also have the fly wheel resurfaced. while the trans is out, you can check the rear main seal and the trans input shaft seal and replace accordingly.

I have a hino truck, its 6th gear does not get engaged

no VIN told
no country told
no year told
no kind of transmission told , manual or automatic
the only clue is 6th gear,
my 2008 jeep has a 6speed manual transmission
SEE?
let me guess it is a M./T box and has manual foot clutch
and the clutch slips.
seems your shop in town is not so good.

top cause of gears not selecting is the gear shifter linkage is all messed up. (damaged, worn, or adjusted wrong)
or the
main clutch is dragging (bad) or slipping worse.
any shop that knows M/t can diagnose it, but not yours.
the old 6sp mt box has side lever shift links up to 1995
then later the Eaton Fuller FS6406A 6 speed box?2004 up??>?? no year truck told, why must any helper beg fo the year.
with classical. top lever shift and big knob end
the bottom of the classical lever. has tip and this tip can be plastic to stop noise but wears out fast and the H pattern fails to work this is super common super easy cheap fix.
even a $10 fix.

Eaton fix easy, nothing ever was so easy this failure
see the stick?
remove it and see the tip is damaged.
bingo.will not pick gears in the H pattern, or is RAndom
BOX GOOD
CLUTCH GOOD
SHIFT TIP NOT GOOD. A DIRT CHEAP PART.

1993 Ford Explorer 5 speed driving it without the clutch slave without the clutch and without the 5 speed gear shifter how to get into 3rd gear

the process involves plenty of hydraulic fluid as well as gears and clutches.
If you have an automatic transmission, and it "slips" while you are driving it-that is, the car engine revs without the power going to the wheels-the most common cause (though not the only possible cause) is low transmission fluid. If the slipping is caused by low fluid, it will get worse as the transmission gets hotter.

My truck loses power going up hills

I take it that this has a manual gear box and clutch operation. If so the problem is that the clutch is slipping. Check that the clutch slave cylinder is fully releasing the clutch bearing ( faulty master cylinder). If all is ok then the clutch pressure plate is weak allowing the clutch plate to slip under load. In that case the fix is to remove the gear box and replace the clutch assembly with a new clutch kit.

How to remove the shifter in a 1992 ford explorer

you will have to remove the area around the shift lever inside the car to be able to get to the 4 bolts that hold the gear lever into the top of the box (turret bolts). Undo the bolts and lift the assembly off the top of the box . Stuff rags into the hole to prevent dirt from under the car getting into the top of the box

I have a 5 speed wen i come off the cluch and get up to high rpm it fill like my trans is sliping

The clutch is probably worn out and slipping and needs to be replaced. With a manual transmission, if the engine revs and the car doesn't accelerate at the same pace, the clutch is slipping. This usually gets very very worse almost instantly. The clunking could be related or it could be an unrelated problem you're just noticing now that you have a slipping clutch. Has the car recently made clicking noises while turning sharp corners or in reverse? If yes, maybe a bad CV joint. If you don't have the technical aptitude to remove the transmission and replace the clutch, I suggest taking it to a shop to have them check into it. Clutches are a wear item and go bad around 90,000 miles of use.

Rpms go up but speed wouldnt

There is a direct connection between rpm and road speed . IN your case if you have a manual gear box then the clutch is probably slipping(worn out or broken diaphram spring or faulty clutch m/cyl not allowing the clutch to properly engage. If you have an auto check the oil level is correct or have apressure test done on the transmission as it is probably slipping in a clutch pack or band system

1991 sabb 900 turbo 5 speed manual trams ... I was driving down the road shifted In to fourth gear and the transmission locked up or it has something to do with the brakes .. I can put the car in gear and...

tyres thats normal thats how the dif works wheels go opposite ways. im thinking the linkage has snapped inside the gearbox. its a half circle that moves the cogs for the gears. if its locked in place then its slipped. it would need a replacement gearbox. part of it mus be broken off and in the cogs thats why its cutting the engine out it will act like a brake and just burn the clutch out if you keep doing it. replace the gear box, its lasted a long time from 1991 if its original, when fitting new gearbox replace the gearbox fluid. give the gear box a good flush out before fitting.
