My overflow tank doesn't hold coolant. if i fill it up it empties whilst riding completely! the bike temp light occasionally comes on if I'm going hard but otherwise i don't think its overheating... can anyone shed light on my problem? im concerned i might damage the engine if i ride round without the overflow tank at least holding some liquid..
Don't jump the gun and replace the head gaskets like the guy recommended...you need to have a technician look at it...can be a minor issue or something totally different. I had the problem with my stratus and paid tons of money to do the heads...never solved the issue and heads were done right. Its was blockage with in the coolant system and was discovered til my water pump went out.
SOURCE: Overheating
I had recently experienced changing or adding red coolant to a unflushed radaitor on my 1300 and found the two not compataible causing the coolant to glug go thick causing it to over heat
SOURCE: My bike seems to be ok but when im riding it you
if u r bike new purchased so go to u r service center and tell them about that problem
and
if it is old so service it means use both options
tune up & carburetor clean both
and after service it every two weeks it will be fine after that
SOURCE: when my bike(Kawasaki gpz400 R) gets hot after
if the reservoir is overfilled then water may be forced out when the engine is too hot. The engine can get too hot if not enough antifreeze/coolant is in the system or the radiator doesn't have enough air flow over it. Another thing that could be going on is the engine is pressurising the water circuit because of a crack or blown gasket. Do you have a milky residue on the oil filler cap?, If you remove the expansion tank cap is the water surface clean and if you then start it does the level rise.?
SOURCE: New 2010 KLX250S. HARD to start cold or hot.
try to adjust the carburetor air adjuster , some klx has blind the adjuster , dont worry you can only pull that put ..
