How to remove airbox from 1985 gs550l @
This is for a 1980 GS450. I'm putting this here because while searching for my bike this came up so I'm spreading the method to help others.
I'm commenting on this May of 2021 because after not finding out how to get my airbox back in I figured it out and wanted to spread this message on the places I found no luck on but came up for anyone attempting it. Long story short, you install in via the left side, the side with your relays. After the seat and carbs are off, unplug all of the wires from the harness and remove the electrical bracket so the left side is clean. Turn the airbox on its side and push the back end in first, between the motor and frame. If you try this from the other side that tranny fluid filler bolt sticks up soo high and will catch which is why you need to do this from the left side. Then as you are pushing it in rotate it around the side frame and you should be able to then twist it upright in place. You should really have to force it but unplugging wires and giving yourself room helps. At the time of this I did remove the rear fender and battery box too, but I don't think I needed to. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.

have 1977 gs, under 90 is bad, up to 175 is good, as long as they are in 10% of each is good.

yes,,, drop it in the repair shop it the easy way forwards, but if cash is tight, go and buy a repair book for your bike but you will still need tools to do the job right, and its not easy to do,,, get a pall to do it for you???? and give him a drink for it?

this bike came with a vaccum petcock so you might want to change the hose that may be collapsing and not letting gas go thru
