Starts up and when I go to drive it, it shuts off. Smell gas as if it is flooded.

Since the engine starts briefly I doubt if the electrics are the problem. Got gas? Got a bit of water in the gas tank / carburetor bowl / fuel petcock bowl?

BO, to check the fuel pump, disconnect the line running to the carbs, then start it up , to see if it is pumpping,if it is that means your high speed jetts might be stopped up, if you do not want to take them off to clean them, poor some SEA FOAM in your gas tank ,and let set there and run for a bit. It might smoke but after it stops ,it will be cleared up,

the 929 is injected. no floats. remap if you altered the intake and exaust. probably the valve in your exaust(the one with the cables paired with the throttle) right under the oil pan. check that first.

hi no way all the guy wants is money any good guy has the right test gear and would test all the charging /starter compnants before replacing the whole caboose buy youself a small cheap volt meter £5/£8 check the battery voltage start motor needle should go up to around 14 put lights on needle should not drop if this is ok then rr and stator is ok stop motor leave lights on if voltage drops rapidly battery is us hope this helps merlinv12
