Check ecm for number 1228253. If it has this one in it you will have a cutting off problem. Gm replaced these with #16198264 The cam sensor magnet on the cam gear will deteriorate and give problems. This will require removal of the timing cover.

how did you jump the fuel pump relay, by bypassing the relay or by applying power to contact that closes the relay? If you bypassed the relay completely you need to b ench test the relay you can do this easily by using any 12v dc power source. If you tested the fuel pump relay by applying power to the relay and the pump run and developed pressure. I suspect a wiring or ground issue. Good luck

It is most likely a sensor. It is common in these. You may check them with an ohmmeter.
You may also test relays the same way.

A vehicle needs gas and spark to run. One of them is not getting to motor. You can check fuel pressure on test port on fuel rail for fuel.
You can pull off a spark plug, plug it back into wire, lay it on top of motor, have someone else crank, while you watch for spark, Put back in, move to next plug wire.

1997 park avenue shuts off when driving, for no reason

There are a few common problems with these cars that could cause this problem. The most common is the crankshaft position sensor (located behind the crank pulley), second most common is the ignition module (underneath the ignition coils). Neither one will set a trouble code.

I haved a 1989 Buick Park Avenue 3.8 engine...I have replaced the starter, coil pack, ignition module, crank sensor and cam sensor and still cannot get it to fire...I really NEED this car to run so PLEASE...

ok ! did you mean its got spark but does not start. if spark but does not start. check to see if its getting fuel to engine. remove air hose from throttle body and spray some starting fluid in throttle body, open throttle plate and spray some in. if car starts then stops, its a fuel problem. if no spark check the harmonic balancer on engine to see if its loose, the 3.8 engine have a crank position sensor that runs off the balancer. the rubber starts wearing out and the balancer start flopping around. and the timing gets massed up. good-day ! type in on pc browser ignition switch symtoms, and a list of things will come up. for a ignition switch controls over 50% of voltage for vehicle. good-day !

When i drive it jerks and it wasnt starting for a while one day it wouldnt start after i had been driving for a while i poured water on the coil pack and it started

I first would guess a faulty crankshaft position sensor and then ignition coil/ignition module
The problem is with the spark itself. The spark to plugs and wires are controlled by coil pack, which is attached to ignition coil, which then is connected to crank sensor. You can test crank sensor with an ohmmeter to see if it is good. I would also test each coil pack.
