That is water in the oil. could be old oil or gasket on head has gone check to see if there is a oily residue in the water container. if not do an oil change and check the torque on the head bolts and re tighten them. there is some stuff you can buy that repairs seal in the engine. something like stop leak. don't use thin oil. engine is old now and well warn in, 30/50 or 20/40 will do fine. but dont use 10 or 15. oil as it is to thin

SOURCE: 1997 landcruiser- engine coolant is

You have a Blown Head Gasket, Cracked Cylinder wall, Cracked Head or the Timing chain has worn a hole in one of the water channels that goes through that front cover. Your not going to know for sure till you open the motor up and get into it. Do a compression check on the cylinders. If you find water in a cylinder or high compression compared to the cylinders on each side of it then you have a cracked cylinder wall or Head.

SOURCE: i have a thick dark brown sludge in my antifreez resevoir tank is it oil or really old antifreeze?

Usually antifreeze and oil mixing causes a dark whiteish milkshake consistancy liquid so if its a dark color i'd guess its REALLY old antifreeze with a lot of corrosion from your engine. Get it flushed and changed a.s.a.p. and hope it didnt mess it up to bad.

I have a problem with my water why does the water keep overflowing out of the expantion tank trough the overflow cap

Quite possible that you have a defective head gasket which is allowing pressure from a cylinder to act on the cooling water. Not too big a problem if treated early.

Header tank cap seperation

you have one of the faulty caps that were made you are going to need to replace it with a new one. you will need to prise out the bit stuck with a screw driver and lift it out if any parts brake off you need to take the coolant tank off and empty the broken bits/s out. caps are cheap to replace.. off ebay

Hi we have a 1995 1.4 astra merit 5 door hatchback automatic, and i am trying to find out what type of gear box is fitted to this model (tried vauxhall uk. useless, have more luck getting hold of the pope)...

i can't help you with this but your best bet is to find an astra owners club website, i guarantee somebody on there will know far more than any vauxhall employee. good luck.

1999 2L golf engine runs hot "coolant" in

Before you flush it, check to make sure your oil doesn't have coolant in it. From your description of your coolant, sounds like there's oil in it.. which is indication of a head gasket leak. Have it pressured tested first before doing your flush. Coolant shouldn't be "brown & thick"

Oil light comes on and Idles very hard when car has heated up.

Change oil and compare how much comes out to how much was put in, shouldnt be off by more than 1/2 quart at the most. Check your coolant overflow tank for brown sludgy residue (like a milkshake). Also check under radiator cap and in thermostat for sludge. This would indicate a pad head gasket.
