The final drive should use 80/90 hypoid gear oil for the worm gears. If you would like the final drive to run cooler (less friction) use synthetic hypoid gear oil. Use synthetic 80/90 hypoid gear oil and change it every other motor oil change.
All Honda VT1100C models require 449cc (15.2 oz) of fork oil per fork leg.
However, the VT1100C2 requires 482cc (16.3 oz.) of fork oil per leg.
Honda recommends using SS-8 fork oil.
Possibly the thermoswitch. Usually located on the radiator. If you ground the wire that connects to the switch and your fan comes on, the switch is bad. Also check your fan fuse.
If the same as 1985-1998 VT 1100 - you have a hydraulic valves, so NO adjusting, if Noise - valve tappets clogged, take out engine oil, use cleaning oil, start engine and run it till tapping goes away.
Then use Motul 10-40W, this one have add of cleaner in and better shifting.
