1978 Yamaha XT500 Oil in frame; Pukes oil up into intake...

All I can say about it is Motor out of the frame. One just have to do a compression test before pulling the motor. Not real good. If not satisfied pour a bit of oil in the sparkplug hole and tested again, almost 130 lbs. Top end time. When the oil will be drained the oil from the frame, the first thing out was several ounces of water.

• There are a total of three plugs. Two of them are under the engine and the other one is under the crank case. The fill hole is on the bottom left front of the motor between the frame rail coming out of the bottom left side. Remove the oil fill plug out out of the front left bottom side of the inside of the frame rail. It's a tight fit so you will need a open ended wrench.

I f your bike has the remote oil tank, I think there is a non return valve in one of the oil lines which may be stuck open allowing oil to settle in the sump.

Hi mate I have no idea what bike your referring to as no information? But most water cooled engines would have two seals to seal the impeller shaft (which circulates the coolant) these seals usually one each side of the inside engine case where impeller goes through one of them holds oil out and the other holds water in hence they called oil and water seals if your sure not head gasket these seals are about the only other way water can get in
I love Yamaha motocross bikes and other MX bikes as they have a specially purpose built hole in the water pump area so when you see it seeping coolant out it tells you straight away needs new oil and water seals
if it is this seal usually only one or the other has gone but no one would replace one with out the other you will see what I mean if you ever replace them as is complete pain just to swap one - you definitely would not want to repeat later to change the other one.
check your impeller shaft also as groves in the shaft is usually why the seal goes in the first place (you may want to replace the shaft whilst you there)

is it cable or hydrolic clutch lever ? if cable then make sure there is 3mm free play on the lever ! is cable free and not dry , oil it !?? some clutch's have an adjuster in the middle , nut and screw , undo the nut and back the screw off about 2mm and try ! to do this remove the side case !! drain oil first !! if this doesnt solve it then replace the clutch plates , fiber and metal !

More than likely it came out of the crank case vent. Your intake valve could have been stuck open (for some reason) which pressurized the crank case.

Just go dow to a bike shop and get any 4 stroke motor oil. BUT NOT SYNTHETIC!!! your clutch plates will not like it. good luck

I recommend a motorcycle transmission oil as it has the proper additives for a wet clutch. I like yamaha's trans oil plus for my bikes.10w40 motor oil will do in a pinch. and I like Yamaha's Yamalube S for oil injection systems.

Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Use Two Stroke ENGINE oil in the pump.
