Problem with shaft drive (cardan) for my Yamaha Dragstar

Hi,
I have a problem with the driveshaft for my 2003 Yamaha 650 Dragstar Classic. I have to replace it with another but only found a second hand shaft from a 1998 Yamaha Dragstar.
Is there any problem with that?
Does the drive shaft from the 1998 bike differ from the 2003 one?
Thank you!
Hope to hear from you soon.I have to fix it as quickly as possible.
Florin.

Had 3 Viragos in the past. Brilliant. I'm using the front end of a 125 Dragstar on a bike I'm building. Need to know the weight of original 125 Dragstar and wether I can get "beefed up" front suspension springs for it. Thanks.

In a 2002 Chevy Tahoe: When I crank it up it is quiet. It’s not until I drive maybe 4 mph that I hear a loud thumping/knocking noise. It wasn’t the engine. It wasn’t the driveshaft. What could this be?

Friend, I have read that there is a little problem with the tracker cardan.
There are several friends here on the forum who have already returned to the dealership to balance the cardan on tracker 07/08.
The noise seems to come near the tracker's gearbox. It looked like a bell. GM already knows what happened and has the bulletin. They remove the cardan shaft and clean and put the weights. Result: 30min and new car !! .

Tube around driveshaft loose.

i have an 05 vstar classic with the same problem. i researched thought several websites and founf that the seal that is close to the angle drive on the wheel is a simple dust seal with a spring. over time this spring can "cut" through the seal and cause the tube to become loose and "jingle." remove the wheel and slide the tube from the shaft, reagling the shaft and reinstall the wheel. hang onto the tube and you can replace the seal at a later time if you want to. The tube was needed to be installed as a precaution to keep items from becomming entangled to the shaft.
