Last week went for a ride bike started to back fire gave it more gas seem to help. went for a ride last night a bike started to back fire again and this time shut off on me. once I got it started still was back firing at low and high speeds, made it home now it will not start or stay running unless I hold the bike to the right and doesn't act likes it wants to throttle up ?

Yes, it could (and probably is) be an air leak. Check to be sure the carb is tight in the intake manifold, and make sure the hot-start isn't loose and is sealing properly. Also make sure all of the exhaust system joints are tight, an air leak in the exhaust will make a four-stroke pop and backfire like an old work truck with no muffler...

Hi
I would suggest that you have the valve clearances checked.
Also, check that the carb is clean. Pay particular attention to the PILOT JET as this opperates the idle circuit.

Check the engine compression. This sounds like a simple valve job would be the fix.

It all seems to be leading to fuel starvation. Have you checked the tank breather is not blocked which can be a small hole in the petrol cap or a tube from under the tank. It could also be a blocked fuel filter. There should be two. One inside the fuel tank under the petcock, another before the fuel pump. Here is the workshop manual where you can find all info you will ever need for this bike.
Hop this has been useful, rate me if it has...?
Thanks and good luck.
