I drive 46 miles round trip to work and its all highway. Its maybe 13 miles at 70 mph and 10 miles at 55 mph 1 way. Now i just bought this car its a 2007 Kia Rondo and it has 47,000 miles on it. It was owned by enterprise rental car and recently traded in. It seems that the gas gauge moves awful fast on this car. Maybe it's because its actually reading right and I'm not use to it, but it seems like i'm using at least just under a quarter tank of gas to go 46 miles that comes out to about 250 or close to it miles per tank. With a 15 gallon tank its only about 16 miles per gallon. It says this car is 18 city and 25 highway with a combined 20 mpg average. Why would i be getting such bad gas milage is there anything i can do to fix it like change air filter or anything like that. With a 2.7 liter engine in this car my 3.0L ford taurus thats 12 years old gets about 25 mpg average. How can this be so different.
I have the same issue of low gas mileage. My 2008 Kia Rondo with V6 (2.7Lt) gets 20-21 mpg in average. Even for highway mileage, it is around 21-22mpg. Very poor gas mileage. Disappointed. I hope it would improve in the future.
I have a 2008 I bought used ( a company Lease vehicle with 42000) I changed the air filters and have checked milage 25 combo town hwy, 28 hwy. Getting ready for a 900 mile trip and will keep an eye on milage then, I run the speed limit, keep the oil changed, switching to synthetic as everyone says better milage and performance, we will see. In my Spectra last trip to NOLA (896 miles) we got 38 miles to gal. (at times as much as 42) VERY PLEASED with that wish the Rondo would be somewhere close .. dream on I fear ! Mialge was checked at the pump using miles traveled and fill up gal. amount.
I have the same problem, as well. I have a MY 2007 Rondo with the V6. The dealership and KIA both refuse to address the problem, saying that we're getting what we should be, even though we only get 10 in town and 18 on the highway. The dealership claims to have tested the gas mileage and says it is gettiong 33 on the hwy. We've had sooo many problems with our Rondo that I would love to just shove it off of a cliff.

I have a similar concern about the gas mileage.. Its not anywhere near what they say it is.. MY car is 2007 I have had it now a year and it has 39,000 miles on it. (was a rental car before)
I also had a problem when i first bought it when it rained really hard, the wipers on fast hit each other locking together, good thing there wasnt a car in front or back of me when i had to stop because I couldnt see..
I also had to replace the air conditioner condensor.. they said it was a rock and not somthing broke prior to me buying it... i couldnt prove it so.... another shop replaced it for me. since my dealer didnt stand behind it....
I recently wanted to trade it in.. Looks like Im stuck forever with this car. I owe 16,000 on it... blue book is between $2,500 and $6,000
this car is not all tore up .. its the market I was told...
My advice ... dont get suckered in on specials, easy credit... remember if it sounds too good to be true... it probably is...
I feel exactly same as you. 2008 Kia Rondo V6 does not have gas mileage as advertised. Especially highway mileage is around 21-22mpg. I am very disappointed in highway gas mileage.
To the previous posters with the Kia Rondo mileage issues:
There is definitely something wrong with your vehicles.
I purchased my Rondo LX (auto) V6 w/ 15K miles back in early May of this year. It currently has almost 24K miles and I have been averaging a tad over 27(!) mpg with a 30%/70% city/highway driving mix both with and without air conditioning. The ONLY modification to the engine has been the exclusive use of 100% synthetic oil AND the replacement of the stock air filter w/ the appropriate sized K&N air filter.
I drive 35 miles to work (one way) and also around the two adjoining counties so it is not unusual for me to rack up 500 miles a week. I don't do any of the 'extra mileage' thingies, just drive normally between 55 & 70 on the highway and maybe 5 over in the city as conditions permit. I buy the cheapest brand of local fuel I can and change the oil regularly as well as check the tire pressure weekly.
I have had excellent luck with this car and would buy another KIA in a second - in fact - we just purchased a new Sportage to replace my wife's leased Honda CRV. She loves the KIA.
If I were you, I would take it to an independent mechanic and have him or her check it over from bumper to bumper. That's what I do and I've never been sorry...
