Generator cover bolt pattern specs?

I have a 2008 suzuki gsxr 600. Last week I dropped my bike! yes I'm ok, thanks! I cracked the generator cover and need to replace it with a new one. I have a new one with the new gasket. I was thinking of doing this myself, so does anyone know if there's a specific bolt pattern like cyclinder heads on a car that this cover needs to be boltted on? Is there a specfic torque tighted for each bolt? can this be done easily or should the mechanic do it? I have tools but not a torque measuring wrench. any thoughts?

You can do the job yourself with no problem. No specific pattern for the side cover. BUT, get all the screws started then just bring them all slightly snug. Now tighten one screw and then go kitty corner and tighten another now drop down and pick a screw mid way between the first two screws and tighten it. Now do the kitty corner thing again and so on. As you know, the idea is to tighten the screws evenly around the entire cover.

As to torque, a 6mm screw gets 7 foot pounds or 85 inch pounds.
Realistically, no one ever bothers with torque on small screws. You will want to spend $15 to $20 and get yourself an impact driver to tighten or loosen screws. The tool is about 6" long and 2" in diameter and has a 3/8" drive on one end. Your socket set will fit it as well as screw driver bits. Just engage the bit into the head of the screw and strike the end of the impact driver with a hammer while twisting the tool to tighten the screw. This is the most valuable tool in my shop and I use one (Blue Point brand) that I got 40 years ago. They last well and can be used on any screw, bolt or nut that needs a little persuasion.

If I do full headers and exhaust on my 08 Suzuki gsxr 600, do I need to do additional upgrades

Hello,

Yes, your carbs will have to be tuned to your exhaust - this, usually, means upgrading the needles/seats in your carbs. I bought a Cobra exhaust system for my Suzuki (earlier model) and it came with the upgrade kit for my carbs.

Some people are happy adjusting the jets out further and living with poor fuel mileage, fouling plugs and lousy performance.

Do some research by calling your parts dealer and ask them if they have the carb kit for the exhaust you are wanting to buy. I use one of two online dealers; Bike Bandit or Old Bike Barn

Hope this helps. If you find this information useful, please vote on this post. Thank you.

My 2008 suzuki gsxr 600 stalls when it reaches 70mph and above ,when the bike slows down the engine gives a **** and comes back in operation.

Make sure your air filter is clean, check the fuel filter and tank for contaminants.
More off the wall , the rev limiter may be faulty, is it a certain speed or a given rev range that causes the shutdown?
Look at the air filter first!!

I have a 2007 suzuki gsxr 600. On my way to work I looked down and my shoe was covered in oil. I looks like its coming from my crankcase. The bike hasnt been ridin in about 4 months. It has been dropped...

Dry rotted gasket isnt likley in four months on that new a bike. Id check for a crack in the crank case, a very tiny one can spit a good deal of oil. Get it fixed though. If it is cracked and decides to split wider while your riding you could be suddenly riding with you rear tire running on an oil slick.

Where is the fuel filter located on my 2008 Suzuki GSXR 600?

Some bike did not come from the factory with a fuel filter. If it has one it would be under the fuel tank in the fuel line before the fuel pump or carbs.
