I have a 99 softail, it starts and runs down the road for about 6 miles then stalls. no spark, i let the oil temp cool about 20mins to 100 and bike starts, go another 6 miles and the same thing again. any thoughts?
If this is occuring everytime you ride the bike and always when it gets warm. I would think there is a good chance that the sensor in the timing cover is getting hot and then developing a short. You can replicate this synario by taking a hair dryer and warming the cam cover around the timing plate, if the bike wont start after warming the timing cover then you have a bad ignition sensor plate. if the bike still starts you can also try the same technique with the ignition module itsself which should on that model be located behind the battery. heat causes shorts in those 2 items quite often. try it out and let me know what happened.
