My 2003 Yamaha 1100 v star runs great around town but when cruising at highway speeds it sputters and misfires. While accelerating from cruising speed, the sputtering goes away,however when I quit accelerating the sputtering starts again. have you checked for vaccuum leaks at the intake manifold? you can check by pouring water over the gasket area when/ if you get it running!

sounds like you have trash in your carbs u need to take bottoms off and run a piece of a wire wheel through the jets

Sounds like it may be drawing air around the intake somewhere. Let it idle and spray around carefully with wd-40 until it speeds up. This will reveal the leak.
