Clicking sound in front of engine - 2010 Yamaha V Star 950 Tourer

Front right as you look down on the engine. Follow the dip stick pipe down to it's bottom, (yellow). It will be to the right of where the pipe enters the engine block, fitted from left to right, (red). See photo.

Could be a noisy valve or lifter in the engine, or an exhaust leak.
Can you make the noise happen by revving up the engine with the car parked ?

If the sound is just one click.Then your starter has gone bad.It is located in the front of the engine underneath:)

Clicking sound- Possible electronic fan clutch failing. This is a typical problem with the 4.2L I6. When you hear the clicking, open the hood and listen if its coming from the fan clutch on front of the engine. this could also cause abnormal engine and transmission cooling. As for the "N" light and 4wd issue, have scanned at the dealer....Hopefully this helps
