In which case the clutch is not properly dis-engaging. Adjust the clutch cable properly, if this still doesn't fix it you will need to replace the clutch friction plates at the very least.

Could be burnt, or scorched clutch discs. DId you check the oil lately? I believe the Madasses have a wet clutch, right? Hope you didn't burn up the whole clutch basket. But you may have. Check the oil now!!!

SOURCE: clutch engaged engine stalls 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 1000

The bike has a sidestand interlock that prevents you from riding away with the kickstand down. That interlock is not functioning properly. Could have been bent or moved, unplugged, or perhaps the relay has failed. If physically activating the switch does not work, and connecting the wires with a jumper does not work start looking at the turn signal relay, some bikes have that circuit integrated into the relay.

The clutch wont diengage

Might be time for a Clutch Slave Rebuild.

Has the Bike sat for many months? Sometimes the Clutches stick together because the oil , like, suctioned them together.
You can start the bike, hold in the clutch and kick it into first gear. It may stall out a few times but usually that will free up the clutches. Careful , the bike will lunge foward as yo kick it into gear

I have a 1991 suzuki GSX600 Katana and whenever I shift there is a rattling noise like the linkagesin the transmission are boucning around or somthing, the shifts sometimes buck as well,

You may have a shift fork or two starting to go bad. When a fork gets bent, it does not move the slider gear properly. When that happens, the slider's gear dogs don't engage fully into the slots cast into the driven gears. A rattling noise occurs. When full engagement happens you get the bucking. As time goes by, the shifting pedal will get harder and harder to shift. Then you simply can't get it into or out of a gear. The bike is 20 years old, parts are getting hard to find. Finding a shop willing to work on it can also be difficult to find. The repair will probably cost between $1000 and $1700. That's pretty much more than the bike is worth. The diagram below will give you an idea of how the shifting takes place. I wish I could give you better news. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_76.gif

Bike dies when shifted into gear 92 gsx600f

There should be a side stand switch, that when the side stand is down, and your clutch lever is out, the engine will stall.

How do I adjust my clutch cable on 1996 katana, I just changed it and now it wont engage into gear.

It should be set so that there is about 1/2" play at the lever end before it takes up the clutch mechanism. Make sure the lever isn't bent toward the grip which would restrict it's travel. If the lever is made of aluminum and bent, don't try to straighten it when cold--it will break. Heat the lever with a propane torch until fairly hot, then gently do the straightening. Shift the transmission into first gear, pull the clutch, and try to push the bike to test for release. Don't run the engine until it works as described. If this doesn't work, review the installation of the cable. Hope this helps!

Why does my motorcycle stall when I change from neutral to first even with the clutch fully engaged?

This usually means the clutch is going bad or is bad. Does it seem to shift hard when you are normal shifting? You should be able to shift with the lever pulled 3/4 of the way back with no surging or hard shift. I would start with replacing the clutch or having it checked out.

My 89 750 won't shift but will run what could it be if it.s not the tranny?

make sure the clutch is properly adjusted before getting into the tranny looking for problems. many ppl mistake problem shifting with the tranny, but the clutch should always be looked after first.put it in first gear, with the bike off, try pushing bike back and forth while clutch is engaged, it should move freely
