I have an 1982 suzuki gs g. a few days ago someone bumped into and knocked it over in the night, the next morning when i tried to start it, it almost turned over, but a bunch of blue smoke came out and it died, i tried to start all day and nothing happened. I finally got it started with the help of a friend who jump started it for me, i then changed the oil in case the motor had flooded. I then saw that there was a leak where the oil filter is so i tightened the nuts and it stopped leaking, but the crossover tubes started to smoke. Then i took off the exhaust and cleaned them, so I decided to run it down the st, and tons of smoke came out of my exhaust and i lost compression and oil spilled out of the airbox all over the st. i need help.

Since the bike laid on its side all night, oil got into your top end and just needs to be run till all oil is cleared out.Clean the air box and anything connected to it.The breather from the crank case runs to the air box, that's why there's oil in it.Should only be a fine mist when running. This is the bottom ends only way to breathe, piston goes up,pulls air in from breather hose.Piston goes down, makes pressure and has to have a means to releave that pressure from the cases. This is how the bulk of bigger bikes are set up to opperate.Just laying on it's side for any length of time won't hurt anything other than what I just said.Takes a bit of time for it to finally clear all oil from tha breather system, and you'll have to change your plugs a coupl of times.Use NGK's that burn oil.

SOURCE: oil filter

On the front of the motor at the bottom just behind the front tire. The oil filter is inside the housing. There are three small nuts and one bolt to remove before you can get to the oil filter. SOURCE: oil leak from the front of the motor

Its funny you should mention this but yes, I had its bigger brother the GS 850 G , same problem, Apparently, in my situation I did the same thing and went to the shop and let those butchers make it worse !!!, the way i found my leak was by washing the motor with a grease and oil cleaner , strayed the whole motor and wash it all off totally, then I turn her on and let her get to operating temp went for a few mile and came back and checked it, for me it was the head gasket   the guys put on and i forced them to do it again,  I found out later that it was common with the suzi's of that model and ended up doing it myself, I used the original gasket and used a compound called gasket goo and it never leaked through out the 8 years i had it . But before you do anything , surly they gave you warrant y on the work so take it back and demand they do it properly.
Cheers and ride safe

SOURCE: oil and fuel leaking out air filter housing, won't stay running

gasket not possible the thing it could be is floats on a carb is too low so it is filling with fuel and leaking out off carb back through the air filter the way to test for this is to clean the airfilter and just leave the bike for a couple day then go see if the air filters is wet again get back to me once done

SOURCE: Fuel in the crankcase

it sound like your fuel shut off valve is bad and the needle valve and set may need to be cleaned.

SOURCE: my GS 500 suzuki is leaking gas

Sounds like you have a stuck float in the carb. or a piece of crud on the float valve, or a bad float valve. The tube is the overflow tube. Shut off the petcock on the fuel tank. Take the leaky carb off, (you can leave the throttle cable attached) flip it over and remove the float bowl on the bottom. There should be some phillips screws. The hex shaped plug in the middle is the jet access plug. You don't have to remove it. Once it's off, you will see the brass float. Spray the hinge and needle/seat area really well with carb cleaner. LIGHTLY Lift up on the float and spray out the valve needle and seat right below the float really well in case there is a piece of debris causing it not to seat fully. You'll see the valve, it has a clip that attaches it to a little tang on the float. Flip the carb back over to an upright position (before putting the bowl back on) and see if the float drops down. If so, LIGHTLY push up on it and see if it moves freely. If so, and you are sure you cleaned the valve and seat, put the bowl back on, reinstall the carb, turn on the fuel flow and see if the problem is resolved. Most of the time this will fix it. The only expense is a can of carb cleaner and about a half hour of your time if you've never done it.
