It could be the head gasket if on reving the engine and it blows water out at the expansion bottle, worth trying it running the engine with the expansion bottle cap removed!

Check the thermostate. it may be opening late.
Check the cooling system and may be you need a good bleeding of air from the system.Hope this helps!

Will 1995 carburetors fit a 1997 Kawasaki ZX-9R Ninja

Hi, Anonymous ( probably ) parts swapping is common with most motorcycles when it comes to interchangeable or compatible parts from one model with another "EXCEPT" for the CDI's they are year-make-model "SPECIFIC" the best thing to do is call your local Dealership Parts Department or a reputable independent shop. If your location is not near a shop then go online and find a parts catalog or "FICHE" and match part numbers depending on your criteria.

1997 Kawasaki ZX-9R Ninja gauges not working

Hi, Anonymous if some or all of your instrument cluster goes dark/blank immediately upon startup or a few minutes later riding down the road the usual suspects are:
1. Blown instrument fuse.
2. A bad ground in the instrument circuit.
3. Faulty wiring before or after the fuse.
4. Faulty wiring or connector between the fuse and the instrument cluster.

If it is not an instrumentation problem then you have to assume the coolant is heat cycling. It could be because the cooling fans are not coming on due to the temperature switch, fans or relay. This would explain why the temperature increases when you are stopped and decreases when you are accelerating and air is moving over the radiator.

Heat gauge

Before getting too upset about this, try changing the temperature sender. Can't tell you where it is but it is usually on or near the thermostat housing but some engines have it on the intake manifold or rear of cyl head.
