Seat removal on 2009 harley softail deluxe

To install slide the retention nut over the tapered end of a cable tie strap so
that the larger O.D. of the nut rests on cable tie strap eyelet, then from the bottom of the rear fender feed the cable tie strap up through the fender hole, with the tab on the retention nut seated in the notch in the fender hole pull up on the cable tie strap to locate the nut snug up against the underside of the rear fender and then from the side opposite the tab i.e. from the rear of the fender slide the retention washer onto the nut which will lock it in place.

The FXST/FXSTB seat attaches with a single thumbscrew on the seat bracket. When installing a seat insert the tang at the front of the seat into the channel in the frame and install the single rear thumbscrew which Harley- Davidson has a special tool for which I have never even seen, pn HD-47190.

The FXSTC seat attaches with two fasteners through the sissy bar. When installing the seat the tang at the front of the seat is inserted into the channel in the frame and the two rear fasteners go through the and get tightened to 60-80 in-lbs (6.8-9.0Nm).

The FXCW/FXCWC Solo Seat is attached with 2 locating pins that for removal must be removed from their grommets by lifting the rear of the seat, then the seat is pulled to the rear to disengage the tongue from the frame. To install the seat put it on the frame, slide the seat forward until the tongue locks into the bracket, push the seat forward to align the two locating pins with their grommets and then push the seat down to engage the locating pins.
The FXCWC rider Seat is removed by tipping the seat up and towards the fuel tank, the two fasteners are removed and the seat is then taken off the bike. Do the reverse to install the seat and tighten the fasteners to 90-110 in-lbs (10.2-12.4 Nm).
The FXCWC Passenger Seat Support is removed by tipping the rider seat up and towards thefuel tank removing the two screws and washers from one pillion support, removing the pillion support and the rear seat pillion, then removing the remaining pillion support. To install it install one pillion support but do not tighten its fasteners, install the wave washer and bushing on each pillion support, install the pillion and the second pillion support and tighten all of the fasteners to an initial torque of 30-35 ft-lbs (40.7-47.5 Nm), then loosen the fasteners and then final tighten them to 38-42 ft-lbs(51.5-56.9 Nm), check the rider seat operation and then lower the rider seat into position and engage the locating pins into their
grommets.

To remove the FLSTN/FLSTF/FLST/FLSTC seat remove the passenger seat and seat mounting fasteners. When installing the seat insert the tang at the front of the seat into the channel in the frame and install the seat mounting nuts, then install the passenger seat.

To remove the FLSTSB seat remove the screw from the seat hinge at the front of the seat, raise the rear of the seat only slightly during removal or installation because pivoting the rear of the seat up too high can cause the nose of the seat to damage the leather trim panel on the fuel tank., to disengage the springs from the seat spring mounting pins and remove the seat. To install the FLSTB seat align the seat hinge with the mounting bracket on the frame, insert the screw into the seat hinge from the right side of the motorcycle and tighten it to 14-16 ft-lbs (19.0-21.7Nm), align the bushings on the seat springs with the mounting pins and push the rear of the seat down to engage the seat spring mounting pins. The seat position may be adjusted forward or rearward for rider comfort by removing the seat, removing the nut on the seat hinge, removing the bolts from the seat spring support bracket, (the seat hinge and seat spring support bracket must be installed in the same position in either a forward or a rearward configuration for the seat to fit properly on the motorcycle). To position seat forward install the hinge with the front tab in the slot, install the seat spring support bracket with the springs toward the rear of the seat. AND to position the seat rearward install the hinge with the rear tab in the slot and install the seat spring support bracket with the springs toward the front of the seat., THEN install the nut on the seat hinge and tighten it to 20-25 ft-lbs (27.1-33.9 Nm), install the screws for the seat spring support bracket and tighten them to 15-20 ft-lbs (20.3-27.1 Nm) and then install the seat.

2011 XR1200X seat removal

XR 1200X

SEAT REMOVAL:

FIRST reach under the front end of the tail section and press the two seat tabs inward, then pull the front of the seat upward to disengage it from the front of the tail section and pull the seat forward over the fuel tank. Then inspect the seat and mounting bracket on the seat and ensure that the bracket is securely attached to the bottom of the seat as the rivets can come loose. Also take this opportunity to ensure that the passenger strap is in good and serviceable condition.

SEAT INSTALLATION:

FIRST orient the rear of the seat into the tail section making sure that the guides are lined up properly with the two seat posts. THEN push down on the front of the seat until the two tabs engage the front end of tail section and THEN pull the seat upward to ensure that it is properly locked into position.

If you need to remove the passenger seat pillion on an XR1220X just lift the rear of the pillion to disengage the seat post from the grommet and pull the pillion out from the motorcycle tail section. THEN if you need to re-install the seat pillion insert it into place with both of its tabs aligned with the trunk slots, push down fairly hard on the rear of the pillion until it and the grommet are fully engaged with each other.

How do i open NEW ACTIVA's seat without the keys ? as the keys are inside the trunk (dikkey)

I own a older activa NOT the 2013 with HET. I had the same fate few days back and what i did is slide the hand just below the lock(below passenger/pillion seat) and one can feel the wire which gets pulled when key is turned. So feel that wire and press as hard as one can towards the body (i.e. inwards or away from engine) and within no time the hood will pop. the same crack cannot be applied with new 2013 Activa since it have protector metal covering to guard the wire.

Just bought 96 savage 9 hours ago and ... dead battery. How do I get the seat off to charge the battery?

Going by my C800, there should be a bolt at the back of the pillion seat and one or two more underneath the pillion for the driver's seat which is simply hooked under the tank.

How do you remove the seat from a 1996 honda shadow vlx

Hi, There are two allen key screws that keep the pillion seat secured down. The riders seat then slides backwards to remove. Have a look inbetween the riders seat and pillion seat from either side of the bike. Prise the gap apart with your fingers and look inbetween. About an 30mm or so inside, you will see an allen key head screw. It is easier with a screw driver that takes an allen key drive as is very awkward to get a normal allen key down that deep. You will need to be in very good light or use a torch to look inbetween the seats as its very hard to spot. When you have removed the screws from both sides the pillion seat just lifts up and forward. The riders seat lift up and backward. Cheers

Remove rear seat ti install saddle bags

Normally one bolt in the back and the pillion slides into the driver seat. Pulling back on the pillion after removal of the hold down bolt usually releases it

Pillon for 06' Fatboy FLSTFSE2

aftermarket is really tricky stuff bro sometimes some blacksmithing is required. oem is the easy and convenient way to ride and cool is not a bolt on accessory. you got to have class to show it. measure the locations and make the appropriate penetrations there is nothing sacred about the rear fender of your put so drill a whole in it and tack weld a nut underneath or just reach up there and catch it and be done widdit. like the guy on the gazelle infomercial said "you can do it!"
