In my day, we only used torque wrenches for cylinder heads. Axle nuts are just done tight with a standard socket bar.
Rear axle nut torque for an 09 Dyna is 95-105 ft lbs.
Don't know for sure if they are the same size rear axles in 08 and 09 but I believe they are the same.

36mm is the consensus of opinion, but in reality, it is the socket that 'FITS'! Most socket sets come in metric and imperial, you use that one that is the best fit.
On my mercury mountaineer the front axle nut is a 29 mm and on the rear axle nut is supposed to be a 36 mm but the 36 mm has a good bit of play it seems to be a little oversized for the rear axle nut so if anyone knows the correct size let me know it seems to be something like a 35.5 mm instead of a 36 mm.
A call to the local harly shop would be sufficient but I think they've all went to 1" by now. The best way to tell is to measure the axle in your bike. Take the rear axle nut off and tap the axle out the other side just far enough to measure the diameter with a caliper. Once done, tap the axle back in and retorque the nut to 50 Foot pounds.
