Requires:

An always-on home computer
A home router that supports dynamic DNS
A school policy allowing you to use an ssh client, or your own computer (i.e. laptop).

1) Have your router obtain a DNS name (research dynamic dns. And register for a name and setup your router)
2) Install the OpenSSH server on your machine. Verify you can connect to it at home using another computer.
3) Verify you can ssh to your home machine from the "outside" (i.e. try from a Starbucks).
4) Finally, see if you can connect to your home machine from school. If it's blocked... try changing the port your SSH server listen to. (i.e. change from port 23 to something higher than 1024). If it still doesn't work... see if you can "see" your home machine at all (i.e. ping ).

5) If you can indeed ssh to your home computer, then setup an ssh tunnel on port 80. Now, all your browser traffic will go thru your home computer and not thru the school's network.

What version of software are you running? I have noticed issue with ssh on version 8.2(3) and below.

You can try to remove all ssh access and then add it back. Also you can try zeroizing and regenerating the crypto key.

undo the dmz and forward the ports 22 for ssh and any other services you need to the cisco. Ok dmz is not good... 3com calls port forwarders virtual servers just add what you need there... hope that helps.
