SOURCE: STX Honda 1300 cc motorcycle brakes effectiveness

souns possible that the pads have become glazed a very light abrasive to the pad face should help wearing pads in on bikes is never the same and it depends on the type of pad you use the higher friction copper based are the better and worth looking into as they last longer and protect the disk also hope this helps you

SOURCE: removing the rear wheel of a Honda VTX 1300s

ok first you got to find the link that takes the chain apart after you do that loosen the bolts that hold the tire on if you cant do that you can use a breaker bar or put a pipe or on the end of you rachet that will give you more leverage. then sloed the tire forword so you can undo the chain and slide tire off

SOURCE: How do you change the rear brake pads on a 2006 Honda Civic Ex.

There is a special tool to press the rear brake caliper back in on you vehicle. You can "borrow" it from Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts. Basically because of the parking brake, you have to press the caliper back in and at the same time screw it in. I know that might sound confussing but when you see the tool they will loan you, it will make sense. It's pretty easy to do with the right tools. I have however taken the hard route before and used a C clamp and pair of needle nose to get it worked out. Hope this helps. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

I have just changed frt pads on my vtx 1300 seem to work ok but when you push caliper brake handlr goes slack

hi do you mean when you push the caliper towards the disc the brake lever goes slack?

if so and the brake is working fine then you prob have no worries

when you push the caliper towards the disc you are forcing the piston back into the brake caliper and as a result the piston then has to be pumped out, so the pad has min distance to travel to make contact with the disc, hence the slack lever,

hope this helps and thanks for using Fixya

Rear brake is not braking the pedal goes down all the way with no pressure changed the the master cylinder still no brakes

stupid question but did you bleed all the air out.......sometimes it take a while..........do you see any brake fluid leaking anywhere?? It could also be one of the pistons in the brake caliper busted.....but you would see the fluid
hope this helps
