I have a high idle speed on my 94 1400 intruder How do I adjust the idle down? Plus when sitting still I can turn the handle bars left or right the idle speed goes up??

This is the REAR carb.
Item #42 is the idle speed adjuster.
When the engine revs just by turning the handlebars this is the routing of the throttle cables hanging up, and pulling on the cables when you turn the bars....reroute cables!

Hi there!
I have the same problem but i finally had it fixed.
Your front rim is warped. Have it aligned. Balancing alone would not do the trick as this would only balance the wheel on its vertical axis. (assuming they were able to balance it properly)
Jack the front end up and turn the wheel.. Have a screwdriver or any thing that can serve as a guide with the rim, turn the wheel and if it touches the screw at some point of the turn , then the wheel is misaligned. A new stock rim would cost too much so have it aligned with a good machine shop.
To give you an idea of what im talking about:

There's also a chance that the fork fluids would cause this. Fluid levels should be equal. (less likely)
Hope this helps!
I'd appreciate a feedback!

SOURCE: 94 suzuki 800 intruder. clutch splips in
No adjusting is possible.
Slip can be caused by several defaults:
- Wrong engine oil ( SAE 10w-40 API SE or SF only )
- Weak clutch springs ( free spring length : 34mm ( 1.34in ) MINIMUM
- Worn clutch disk 2(internal teeths ) ( wear limit 3.15mm ( 0.124in ) ) This is the last disk, against the clutch center
- Worn clutch disks 1 (internal teeths) ( wear limit 2.62mm ( 0.103in ) )
- Clutch plates ( thikcness between 1.55 and 1.65mm / 0.0610 and 0.0649 inches
- Damaged pressure plate ( cracks round the spring holes )
To check the clutch parts, the right engine cover must be removed.
Take attention while loosening the clutch spring bolts!
Drain engine oil, and set engine into first gear ( this locks the clutch for an easy loosening of the spring bolts )
Hope it helps
SOURCE: Only high beams will work-
Either the low beam filament in the bulb itself is blown or the headlight relay is faulty. To check bulb remove it and run a jumper wire to the ground and then touch a hot wire to the terminals one at a time to verify each filament is in tact. If the bulb is ok locate the headlight relay check the connections and replace relay if this doesnot rectify the problem the headlight switch itself is faulty.

There have an air leak between the carb and the cylinder and/or the head and cylinder. Old hard / cracked rubber fittings and O rings are usually the problem. When extra air gets into the system it leans the fuel mix and the high idle is the result. It also means the engine runs hotter. Also, cracked or broken reeds can be a source.

I had the same problem. I'm doing this from memory, but there is a lever up inside the fairing which when flipped over will lower the beam to the correct spot. I found this solution in the owners manual, so for more precise directions check there.
