I need some help. I'm trying to order parts to fix up my bike which was dropped and I don't want to get ripped off by the local dealer.
So here's the problem...after my husband dropped it, the front brake is stuck. The clip on is broken and so is the right handle switch. Those are a given, but everything is looks fine to me. My husband is deployed now so I unfortunately have to get all the parts before he comes on a pass to fix it and I don't have a clue what the problem may be with the front brake and if I need to order anything else.
I know it's going to be hard to tell just by my description and and some pics but I was hoping someone could give me an idea so if I do go to the dealer I wont be looked at like a girl that knows nothing, or I can just go ahead and order the parts. I have pictures if that helps. Let me know if you need for details.
Now that you have bled the brakes and everything seems okay, try pumping the brake lever many times while the bike is stationary. Do the brakes build up pressure and not release? If everything still seems okay after you do that I would take the bike for a ride around the neighborhood. Stop every few minutes to make sure the disc isn't heating up indicating the brakes may not be releasing properly.
If the master cylinder is working properly, when you pull the brake lever fluid is pumped into the brake line. This forces the brake pads against the brake disc, stopping the bike. When you let off the lever the fluid is allowed back into the master cylinder. If the cylinder does not release the fluid it could put a quick end to your riding. I would not be comfortable letting someone ride this bike very far until I took the master cylinder apart and satisfied myself that it was problem free.
Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Now you can talk intelligently as to the proper name of a part. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site but I would go to your local dealer in this case.

Email the photos to me at [email protected] I will then post a comment on what I see. Note > I suggest that you click on any responders name (in blue) so you can see their history and ratings.

No it's not stuck down. That's the thing...it all looks fine.
I'm sorry I just read my post and I know there's some typos...I copied and pasted it from another thread that I wrote and didn't copy and paste it correctly since I was in a rush.
I bled the brakes as suggested and that released the brakes. Should I assume that I still have a problem with the master cylinder?
Thank so much for all of your help!! The brakes seem to be working perfectly, but I'm still going to take it to a shop to have the master cylinder looked at to make sure that it's working properly to avoid any future problems. Thanks again!!
Does the handle still work? Can you open the bleed screw and bleed the brakes? If opening the bleed screw on the caliper does not release the brakes then you have a physical problem with the caliper or rotor, something in there binding. You will not be able to order the parts until you find out what the problem is. Although they sell rebuild kits for the calipers I don't think that will fix your problem.
My suspicion is that the master cylinder (located on the right-hand clip-on) has been damaged. If you can get another master cylinder (perhaps from a salvage yard) it might be worth trying. If the master cylinder is the problem the brakes will release when you open the bleed screw and you will be able to lock them again following the bleed procedure.

Is the handle stuck down, if you were to squeeze the handle to set the brake? If so just disconnect the cable from the handle and see if that releases the brake.
If that fixes the problem most likely you just need a new brake handle.
