Tw200 electrical schematic

Battery died while sitting during cold snap. Replace battery and everything works but electric starter. Has no kick starter (yet)but I'm adding one soon. Jump-started it and the bike runs fine with lights, flashers, brake light and horn. The electric starter just quit working. Checking connections every inch of the way to try to determine where the problem is, but so far, no luck.

Hi
few things
new batteries only hold a little charge in them
so make sure it is fully charged
if your bike is making a clicking noise when you press the starter but is still not turning it is your starter solenoid
if it is making a clicking noise then your starter motor has seized and your solenoid is ok
if not making a clicking noise
it is possible your starter solenoid is broken and will need replacing
easy test is the starter solenoid has two electric poles on it
one going to the battery the other going to your starter motor
get a large spanner (wrench)
and with the ignition turned on
touch both poles with the spanner
("caution") this will spark a little so make sure there is no fuel close by
if the engine turns over
then your solenoid needs replacing

put the bike in neutral, find where the positive wire is bolted to the starter, hook a jumper cable to the positive terminal on the battery and with the ignition on, touch the other end to the positive bolt on the starter. if the starter works, then its likely your kill switch is malfunctioning. take it apart if necessary clean or replace... hope this helps.

My scooter suddenly won't start anymore.

Flat battery. Unless the battery is fully 12.2 - 12.6 volts, it won't start with the electric start. If the voltage goes below 11 volts, there is not enough power for fuel injection and ignition assuming your mystery scooter has fuel injection. Connect it to a battery charger for 8 hours.

49cc taotao can't start with electric, only kick start. electric dies when brakes applied

Sounds like your battery is dead. Sometimes they seem ok, or read good on gauge...but just a little load kills it. May also be internal short or connection problem inside battery. Either way, I'd start there.

Misabishi verada, all lights horn ect work but wont kick over

You need to find out id your ign switch is sending 12v electrical to the starter.. There ia large post with the positive battery cable attached to it and a small post which is the wire from the ign switch connects.. run a wire from a postive source like the battery cable to the small post.. if the engine cranks you will know the starter is good and its not getting a 12 single from the ign switch. Post a comment and let us know what you find.

Car looses all electrical when ignition is turned on

sounds like a shorted cell in your battery. beleive it or not, I've also seen a bad altentator do the same thing. If you get the car started you can disconnect the battery while the car is running,if the engine dies, then you have a bad altenator. If it keeps running, then you will want to replace the battery. If neither of these work, then you'll want to start thinking "outside the box" with things like a bad ground connection, fuse box issues etc. Hpoe this helps!

1996 jeep cherokee sport starter

disconnect the battery, negative side first.
remove both positive wires from the starter.
remove the bolts from the starter.
install new starter.
make sure positive starter wires are free of corrosion and rust, use sand paper or a file.
tighten positive wires just snug, then another 1/4 turn, ** not too tight or you will snap the stud off the starter solenoid**.
coat wire ends and starter studs with die-electric grease, battery protector, spray paint , or something non metalic.
connect vehice battery, negative side last.

Kick start will start it. Electric starter will not turn over.

Engine is still cold, battery doesn't have enough juice to supply extra current to ignition coil coz its almost use up by electric starter. Check battery contact. Head light is on.

Commonly on morning when engine is still cold kick about 10 consecutive time before turning on the switch. It will help lubricate it inside and generate some heat. This will lessen starting current to be use up by the starter. Also give some extra fuel to the line.

Hope it helps
