I don't believe there is a fuse. There is a circuit breaker built into the headlight switch. If you are sure the headlight switch is good, it could be a bad dimmer switch. If you have a voltmeter, with the headlight switch turned on, a larger yellow wire going from the headlight switch to the dimmer switch should be a hot wire. The dimmer switch sends power on a tan wire to the low beams, and through a light green wire to the high beam bulbs.
If your high beam indicator on the dash also doesn't work, then it is likely one of those switches. A voltmeter or test light would need to be used to find which one is bad. If you can find the connector at the steering column going to the dimmer switch, pull it apart and check for power on the yellow wire coming from the headlight switch, with the headlight switch turned on. If no power, the headlight switch is bad. If there is power there, then the dimmer switch must be bad.

It could be the switch or the bulbs or the headlight relay.

SOURCE: In adjusting the headlights on a 2003 Olds Alero,

Unless a car has been in an accident it is very rare that the adjustment of haedlights change. the usual problem as in your case sounds as if the headlamp is not installed properly. It is either loose or not seated properly. So check there first.

Headlights aren't bright enough at night

Don't change to HID Xenon or Bi-Xenon unless you change the entire headlight unit, as your standard headlamp units are not designed for this. You will only end up blinding oncoming traffic, and your beam scatter will be all over the place.

Take your car to a servicing garage or dealer and ask them to check the headlight alignment. If you are still unhappy with the headlight performance, there are plenty of quality halogen bulbs out there - just look at the Philips or Osram automotive range.

Jetta headlights not working

Ignition switch will cause you to loose your head lights and turn signals. You will still be able to start the car and hold the switch for your brights but normal function is gone. Check it out it usually only runs about $20-$30 for replacement part but you need a special puller to get to it.

Sounds like the headlight switch is bad. Is it on the dash or on the steering column?

My headlights are very dim at night on my 1997 mini van. The outer covers(lamp shades) are scratched, faded, etc really badly. What can I do for that?

Wet sand the entire smooth surface of the cover with 1000 grit sandpaper till it looks about like a sheet of wax paper. Some masking tape on the surrounding paint is a good idea. The oxidation is only on the surface and comes off fairly quick, but you may have to work through wax, clearcoat and walmart fixit stuff. Rub till clear with red rubbing compound. Then polish with white compound. Finally wax with UV inhibiting wax every time you wash car. The Walmart stuff peels off in about a year, and does not remove the yellow oxidation. The end result is worse than before. This fix also works on taillights.
