I know it sounds silly, but have you checked your earth or ground wiring. If not earthed this type of problem can occur. Did the bike run before you replaced your coil etc? You could have a crook CDI
are you using multi meter mate for correct voltage readings?

I did check over all grounds and cleaned surfaces. The bike ran well all summer until my buddy tipped it over.. Then I had no spark. I then replaced the coil and still nada

definately electrical matey, but where do you start. you say 6 volts coming out of the CDI is it constant voltage, perhaps the source could be the CDI unit itself, if you have all other stuff new.

Power from CDI isn't constant, it fluctuates as it should, but it hits the coil and drops off. There is some power but not enough. And it's flicking brand new, maybe I just send it back to suzuki with an angry letter demanding another coil

I'm thinking it might otherwise be my CDI. Which a friend of mine just so happens to have the same bike just down the road. Only difference might be the year. But I'm still hoping for more suggestions from y'all experts. I do appreciate any helpful comments.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The voltage on the green wire must be pulsating when cranking/starting the bike, not steady. Confirm by similarly testing the voltage on the black wire on the left ignition coil. If the green still reads a constant voltage, then the CDI is faulty; to be more specific, most likely that the switching tansistor inside the CDI that drives the right ignition coil has shorted.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Hi my Dr 200 s dirt trail bike will not start it has a push button instead of a kick start there is heaps of petrol in it just no spark

Check for power and ground to the starter if the is then the coil is bad. If there isn't power you need a new stator

Look for a coil for 1981 suzi GS550L

You can narrow the search by looking for any twin lead 12 volt points ignition coil, as long as you dont get a cdi, or electronic ignition coil, any point coil will do the job
