My Owners Manual got chewed up and i don't remember if my Yamaha Timberwolf I bought used is a 93 or 94. Can someone help? I found a number stamped on motor but all searches find nothing (4BD-006870). I need to know so I can start chceking on prices. Also would anyone know I could fit the newer Timberwolf stuff on this old frame (4x4)?? Thanks for your time.
The frame number (VIN #) is what will tell you the information needed. Call a dealer with the VIN number ant they can tell you exactly what you have got. Chances are the dealer can tell you. The Timberwolf came in 2x4 and 4x4 models. You can look up the part numbers for both and see if the casings have the same part numbers. If so, you should be able to do a swap out. Check out the part numbers on the frames.
Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

The number you quote is a 1992 YFB250 Timberwolf 2 wheel drive.
The motor might not be original to your bike. Have a look for the frame number to confirm. It will be on the lower horizontal, just forward of the left foot peg, it may be a 17 digit VIN or the engine serial number as you've quoted.
