SOURCE: how do i remove and clean the carburetor on a 2005

The easiest way is to remove the seat and then remove the entire rear sub-frame - the airbox is attached to the subframe, so it will go with the subframe. Loosen the rear clamp on the intake boot. The sub-frame is only held on by three bolts so it's a piece of cake to remove.

Once the subframe is off, the carb will be wide open and easy to remove from there.

Your ignition coil has a ground coming right off of it, check to make sure it is still connected to frame.

2004 YAMAHA YFZ 450 Quad POPS OVERHEATS BREAKS UP AT HIGH RPM.

Question edited for full 'year make model (what it is).
Question moved from motorcycles to make model category.
Please don't type in all CAPS, it is considered SHOUTING and is harder to read.

'clips' and 'turns' it took me a while to realise you were talking about the carburetor and you were playing with the mixture screw and needle position! 4 turns out is a lot different to the factory setting which is 1 1/2 turns out.

If it is overheating it is running too lean. As you changed the stator, also consider the ignition timing. Popping can also be caused by the ignition failing under load, coil, lead and spark plug.

I have a 2004 Yamaha YFZ 450 the bike will start and drive but as soon as it warms up when you push the throttle it starts to cut out... What is the problem?

There is not really enough info in your post to narrow down the problem. Hesitation during acceleration can either be fuel related or ignition timing related. Once up to speed, will it maintain that speed smoothly?

If you have a timing light, check the timing at idle. If it is OK, then it is probably fuel related.

Assuming you have not messed with the ignition timing, if it idles, but won't accelerate, it is probably starved for fuel. 1.Check/change the fuel filter- easy and cheap
2. pull the fuel line off the carb, and make sure fuel flows from the tank freely.
3. If there is good fuel flow to the carbs, pull the carbs and clean them.

Every time I start my yfz 450 I hit the throttle it hesitates when it starts then pops I bit doesn't seem to have the power that it should. I replaced the air filter and the main jet and pilot jet however...

Can you adjust the main jet? Have you cleaned the varible jet or slide? What shape is the vacumn diaphram in? Have you checked the ignition timing,i presume it is solid state ignition?
How about the carb did you clean any with gummout?

I have a 2004 yfz 450 that i just rebuilt but it has always backfired when in neutral or when i clutch it my buddy tells me it is prolly jetted wrong what do u think i should do, i havent tried to switch...

Check sparkplug gap..
If the bike runs okay other than backfire try clean carb or take it off an get a pro to do this . It could be a very cheap fix..Worked for me..
Hope this works

Well my yfz 450 sat in my shed over the winter so i drain the tank and clean the carb. Then i went to start it and it wouldnt fire up. I took it apart and check it for spark from the coil and didnt have...

the ignition cant fail from sitting, perhaps the kill switch has corrroded, always put a spark plug in and ground it to the head when checking for spark , also check with a new spark plug
