Find out what is on and make sure it goes off when you switch the ignition off. Pull the fuses until you note no current going out of the battery. Multi-meter is required for this.

Do you have remote anything on this machine? If you do ... the receiver on your bike is always on. You need to be sure your battery is up to snuff and consider a battery maintainer.

Why does battery drain ?

there are several reasons...not enough cells in a weak battery(not enough cold cranking amps in battery to turn the car over). Check your alternator as well. Does the temperature drop? Sounds like you need a new battery(also when you turn off your car- TURN OFF EVERYTHING...sometimes a radio, or something not turned off(even a trunk light, interior light, security system(various things)- can zap the juice from your battery overnight or within hrs.-leaving not enough to start the car the next day....Hope that helps....Xx, Jasmine

My 2004 Honda Pilot ran fine then a hour later won't start. At first thought battery so we charged up usig one of those chargers you plug in. Lights flicker, and clicking sounds but won't turn

Check batry terminals are secure & free from corosion, check security of earth strap to engine & main power wire on starter, if ok have the batry load tested to ensure it can perform under load as the starter needs a lot of current. Have you tried a jump start?

Battery is discharged very early even without use

Hello Sunil,

Knowing your phone's behavior, Its not usual that the battery if fully charged, will drain within the day, especially that you said even if it is not being used. I would highly advice that you avail the warranty of this phone since you have just purchased that unit. Do not rely on Nokia's customer service online. Go to the store where you made the purchase and avail the warranty. They should change the battery pack.

How long to charge battery?

bateries have their own specifications. You can read it on the label. But,most of all it must be charge from 12-15 hrs. on its very first charging ( for a new battery) and later on or for the second time and so on, you may charge it 2 to 4 hrs.,sometimes 8 hrs..Leting you know,a battery can be charge even a short span of time, for example is 30 minutes only.In that 30 minutes try to measure its stored volt using a volt meter or a multi-tester,and the result is laready 12 volts (if your batery is 12 volts.)do you believe that? YES.! because a battery is so easy to store power. But,the problem is that its so easy to drain its stored power. You know why?because the current or amper of the baterry is still weak that the given specification.,.So,for short explanation, the longer time you charge your batery equals the longer time to drain the power. For example: when you charge the batery within 4 hours, thus the batery will be drained after 4 hours.

My camera seems to be drawing energy from the batteries even when it is off because when I put brand new betteries in, within 72 hours they appear dead. I have the Canon SX10 IS. The camera is 10 months...

I have had the same issue. However, it is not draining the batteries, it is telling you the batteries are low even though they are not.
Sorry I don't have an answer though. I have checked batteries after the camera told me they were low/unusable and found them to be fine.

1992 prelude si - battery/alternator prob?

if you can charge the battery and drive it for a while then sounds like the altenator has failed and is not re-charging the battery, good way to test is to charge the battery, start the car and turn the light on, if everything is dimm or the motor dies there is little to no charge voltage, and will require altenator work

Won't start

The symptom you describe of starter clicking, sure does sound like a weak battery.
The starter draws 120-200 amps and if down a bit, the battery will not supply that kind of current.

The other loads you mention are puny by comparison only requiring a few amps and can be tolerated by a tired battery after it has a while to recover from the starting current it tried to deliver.

Even with a jump, don't get too far from home; the alternator may be at fault and not charging the battery as it should.
There is a kind of failure that can happen internally in the alternator that will drain the battery.
The only way to determine if this is the case is by monitoring the current drawn from the battery with everything that can be turned off, turned off.
All modern vehicles draw some kind of current even with 'everything' off. The computer, clocks, certain radios, all these things draw minute currents even when not in use but the total drain should be well under an amp.

About any cheap digital meter has a 10 Amp UNfused input that is handy for checking this drain but if it exceeds the 10 amps, it will likely damage the meter. Once the battery is disconnected, just tap the leads to see if it appears the maximum will be exceeded. This short term high current won't bother most.
DON'T turn ON anything while doing this, lots of things in a car draw >10 amps.

If you have a Harbor Freight tool store nearby, they often have adequate such small meters for ~$3.
Otherwise, Radio Shack.

Motorola v710 cell phone

Is the battery lithium -ion? If not, you have an older generation of battery.

Having mentioned that, some batteries need an introductory "conditioning period". Continue your excercise of charging and draining (dont drain too too low) and hopefully you will start seeing some decent longer lasting charges.

Hope that helps!
