Could be Distributor Points, Quick clean with fine file or wet&dry to see if it makes a difference. Could be Capacitor (Condenser) across points. Distributor Cap, could be cracked or have a HV carbonised track. Distributor Rotor Button or individual HV leads to spark plugs. Check HV leads with Ohms scale on Multimeter. Or swap lead with one of the others. Or substitute HV Lead one at a time to determine if missing spark. Process of elimination from easiest to hardest unless you have the knowledge & tools. Good Luck
Is the coil clean and the magneto free from rust?Clean them and set the gap betveen coil and and magneto to 0.30mm SET The gap between the points to 0.30mm if this dosent help you could try to
change the sparkplug "cap".Are you sure you have got the right spark plug.ITS VERY IMPORTANT whith an engine whith points
It is possible that the trigger to the HT coil is absent and so there is no HT or firing. So check on the platinum points or the electronic ignition and check the PULSATING voltage on the HT coil negative side.
If there is trigger with no HT output then the coil is faulty. If not check the condenser and the points. Set the gap correctly or replace. If this has an electronic ignition then check the sensor and the circuit if there is a failure.
If the points are working correctly you are having a problem with the condenser ,coils, spark plugs,or spark plug caps. Honda condensers are notorious for being week. Spark plug caps have resisters that burn out or corrode. Coils can go bad but do not usually go out in pairs. Plug wires can short out the spark if the are old and cracked or wet. One coil does two plugs so on shorting wire on each coil will kill all the spark. You can see this if the bike is running at night where it is dark. Aftermarket Accel coils($150-$200) might be a good option along with an after market CDI ignition (may still be available through Parts Unlimited about $200). I suspect that your problem is still the points. Power is going to them but not leaving them. Even new points may have to be reinstalled several times before they decide not to short to ground.
The ignition condenser is needed for good coil saturation and is directly related to the voltage output of the coil, the weaker the ignition condenser is, the weaker the spark will be from the coil.
The signs to look for when replacing the ignition points are burnt or pitted contact surfaces at the breakers, and for a worn down rubbing block. (where the points contact the cam lobes inside the distributor)
The only things that you can do to prolong the life of the ignition points is to make sure that the rubbing block on the ignition points and the distributor cam lobes are properly lubricated with die-electric grease, and make sure that the dwell angle is properly set. (you would need a dwell meter to set the ignition points properly)
The only reason that the engine would stall from the ignition points is because either the condenser burned out, or the rubbing block wore down and the ignition points closed up. (The ignition points should open and close to provide a primary signal to the coil, if they do close up, you can get home by using a piece of a match book cover to set the gap for the ignition points, it is approximate enough to work well enough to get you back home if stranded from closed up ignition points)
