Ive just replaced the throttle cable on my KM 56R Combi engine unit and I can't get it to idle. I've backed off the idle screw as much as possible, no effect; and the engine continues to run too fast?

Try disconnecting the throttle cable at the carburetor and see if idle remains high. (I) want you to isolate issue to the new cable installation only and not a combination of cable and other.

I believe the handle/trigger position is critical to throttle so be sure the distance of the trigger to body of unit has not increased.

Comment below and I assist further if need be.

3616 Mahindra turns over strong,if I try to give it a little fuel, it stops turning over, as if I turned the key to off.

Check the negative battery cable connection at the engine block. It sounds as if the engine is using the throttle linkeage as a ground I'm not familiar with this car but if that's not the problem try disconnecting the security system, then the throttle position sensor in case something got messed up in the clear flood mode. If all else fails do a hard reset by disconnecting the battery cables from the battery then touch them together for about a minute, the car will run funny for a while and you need to reset your radio settings but it cures many problems. I hope this helps, Take care. Merry Christmas

How do I remove the throttle body in my 2013 Harley electric glide

you have to take off the tank to get to it and then disassemble like you would a regular carb. be careful in disconnecting everything. See service manual before disconnecting any wires or throttle cables.

Oldsmobile intrigue problems

make sure the throttle cable is not damaged and moves easily by disconnecting the cable at the throttle body and move the cable back and forth it should move easily and no restriction in movement. if this is good then you can try to clean the throttle body as it gets dirty inside and can cause the throttle to stick.

Izusu rodeo woulnt start. Mechanic replace starter. Now it is running wide open. It fine while driving but when coming to a stop it just revs super high. Any thoughts?

Check that the throttle cable has been correctly installed and is not jammed at full throttle . Run fault codes to check for throttle position sensor fault. Reset the CPU using a code reader as by disconnecting the batter to replace the starter the CPU program may have become corrupted and needs resettiing

Cruise control went out on my 2005 ford taurus and my accelerator gets stuck at times. Should I replace the cruise control?

This is a dangerous defect. What you want to do is isolate the Cruise cable from the Throttle mechanism. Then get the Cruise cable away from the Throttle so it can not jam the Throttle accidentally.

With the engine OFF use your hand and move the remaining Throttle mechanism and feel for sticking or roughness in the control. If you feel binding, start removing the connection of the Throttle cable and work your way through all the moving parts like a Butterfly flap on the Airhorn, the TPS (throttle position sensor) and so on until you find out what is rubbing.

It is possible that the Cruise was disengaging because the Throttle parts were binding. If disconnecting the Cruise eliminates the sticking throttle, then all the problems came from the Cruise control cable or the Cruise Box. Once you have made a thorough check of the Throttle you can blame the Cruise for your problems and replace the parts.

Just installed new carb in my 1989 honda. Used diagram to connect vacuum hoses back up, but car idle speed is too high - up to 2,000rpm. What could be wrong?

try turning down the idle via the idle adjust set screw (usually on the carburetor base). if the problem persists after the engine is warmed up, there may be an issue with the automatic choke. also check the throttle linkage by disconnecting it to see if it is holding the throttle open when connected. if this is the case, you may need to adjust it or find a slightly longer cable.

79 charger boat goes in reverse but not forward

Try disconnecting the throttle cable and then operate the shift lever. You either have the two cables reversed or the gas side is too far one way and it is throwing you out of range for the shift.
The cables come to a fulcrum point in the shifter box. If one of the ends on the motor side is too far in one direction, the other cable can not travel. Even after disconnecting from the carb you may have to screw the connector to allow more travel in the gas cable so the shift works.
Good Luck

Need to know how to set up carb on 1985 johnson outboard. front adj on the carb got moved looking for starting point to get me close to running.

try disconnecting the throttle cable, loosen carb linkages, assure that both carbs are FULL closed....tighten linkage - and cable ...check for FULL open and close with the throttle....this will be your starting point, advise to get a service manual for your outboard model to correctly adjust the carbs for max performance....GL hope this helps..
