yes there are 2 little wires on the back of the clutch perch and also make sure the kickstand is up - my 2002 has a kickstand safety switch too and will kill if you put it in gear with the kickstand down.

SOURCE: 2004 Honda Shadow Aero stalls

There seems to be low gas level in the float chamber of the carburator.
Clean the carburator and check the float level and reset.
With the choke 'on' and if you hit the throttle it will die because there is a restriction of the air flow to the carburator.

check fuel level, u may need to check the flow of petrol to it,,Also if that does not solve you may need to service the carb and check fuel filter, air filter etc...

this time of the yr. spring time a lot of bikes sit all winter and fuel in the carb will age becoming like a vanish that will clog the low speed jet or jets so most likely you need you carb cleaned.

SOURCE: 2006 Honda 750cc Shadow Aero starts with choke, runs for a minute, sputters and stalls. Won't start again for a couple of days, then starts right up. Electrical?

Hi there
I once had a wee car, whenever it got too much petrol inside itself it refused to go anywhere and had to rest for some time and you had to be very careful with the choke and the petrol so it did not swallow too much of it and need another rest.

If the problem start after putting Vance & Hines Pipes, then try to sync the carbs, if not possible (meaning turning the sync screw all the way and cant sync them), reJet the carbs with 1up, slow and main Jet.

If you were sitting on the bike, it's on your left down at the bottom of the bike but not under it. Right above the kickstand. Has a single wire running to it

80 XL500S Bike runs few minutes and dies like its out of gas

I,v got one as well 2 things can cause that, petrol or spark, check to see if the float is set right height and needle and seat aren't blocked and only letting a tiny amount of fuel threw you should pull carb apart and give it agood blow out with compressed air and clean the jets I think there are 2 if remembered if its starting, normally its a fuel problem could be tank tap halved booked as well normal on bikes been sitting awhile then after that get anew spark plug sometimes they start breaking down when get hot 9 times out of ten that's your problem any way try that it should work good luck

Bike wont start after pulling dipstick out while running what can i do ?

Just had this happen to my 2007 Shadow Aero 750. Just started it to stir up the oil, so I just had the dipstick sitting in the hole. It hopped around and got grabbed. Took off the cover, and there was no visible damage anywhere other than the dipstick. I had to adjust the electrical sensor that was in there. I guess it bent it up enough to not read anymore. I bent it back closer to the toothed wheel, and tried to start the motor, fired right up. Shut her down, reassembled. Hope this helps anyone out there that was brought to this post desperately looking for answers.

My 2004 Honda shadow aero vt750 is running poorly. It only idles with the choke nearly fully engaged. I have added carb cleaner and changed the plugs. What else should I do?

has the bike been sitting for a time ..sounds like the carbs need pulled and cleaned..you could try draining the fuel out at the float bowls there should be drain screws at the bottom there could be dirt or water in them sometimes this will help without pulling them ..good luck
