I suspect the start button. In many bikes the start button deactivates the headlight to provide full power for starting. This continuous load works the button mechanism quite hard.

SOURCE: My push button start switch not working on M/C..

Sounds like a bad relay... the relay switches all power to the solenoid to start the bike... when you let off of the starter it turns the lights etc back on. If the relay goes bad... starter button will not work, and no power to the headlight/taillight/dashlights... the relay is fairly cheep, 10 to 15 bucks....so its a pretty cheap test to see if that is what is wrong.

Testimonial: "Will not do anything when push start button to start M/C.The relay is good. All lights work except headlight, when running.Starter is good.It starts right up when jumping across solenoid.Tested head light, it is good.Is wire from switch bad or bad switch or both?"

03 Grizzly 660 hit the start button the solenoid clicks and starter makes a whirring noise anybody come across this ?

Starter pinion gear not engaging. Motor is turning but gear is not transmitting the energy to motor for start purposes.

Make sure battery is fully charged and try to start - if nada replace starter.

How do I get my car to start?

Hi Timothy:
I'd try checking the starter relay/solenoid. That should be where the clicking is coming from.
Before you do any testing, make sure the vehicle is in Park or Neutral, and that the parking brakes are set.
- If you short across the supply wire (from the battery) to the small terminal and the engine turns over, the problem is not the solenoid.
- If you short across the two heavy wire terminals (Watch for LARGE sparks) and the engine turns over, the problem will be with the solenoid.

Car wont start but lights work

Please provide with more detail. Does it make a click sound when turning the ignition? Does it crank?
Have you tried to jump the battery with jumping cable or tried it on a know good batteries?
- If the car does make a cranking noised then the starter is good but weak battery.
- If there is no noise or clicking, then dead battery.
- If you can hear the clicking when turning the key to start, then check for battery GROUND.
- If battery were tested and it read 12.5 - 14.0 DCV. Then your starter are bad.

There also other thing to check like security alarm system with ignition switch kill... But most common problems with fail to start are mention above.

My 2006 chevy trailblazer 2wd 6cyl wont start. makes clicking noise, then nothing lights/radio etc work but wont start what is it

You got a jump and it ran fine? It's your battery. The lights and radio are much easier for a battery to handle than spinning a car engine. Again, if all you needed was a jump, you have a bad battery.

Ignition problem... No signal from ignition to solenoid...run a starter draw test to confirm starter is ok --- You can run your jump wires to a remote starter button or switch to get around it for now.

Not a handy man or fix it man. 04 tribute, wont start, battery wont jump start but dash board lights are on, there is a click click click noise and it wont start

Clicking noise is the sound of the starter being bad and not having enough power to turn the motor over. Replace the starter.
