Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Most likely a wheel speed sensor, hopefully... The only thing that will change when the ABS light is on is that the ABS will not function as long as the indicator is on. I hope this info helps.

When the airbag system is in functioning condition, the airbag warning light will remain on for about 7 seconds and go out when the ignition switch is set to ON .

If there is any malfunction, the airbag warning light will either stay on or off continuously. In such cases, perform on-board diagnostic in accordance with the specified procedure to determine trouble codes.

1. Turn ignition switch ON (with engine OFF ).

1. Connect DIAG. terminal to No.2 terminal of diagnosis connector located inside lower cover.
2. Check in accordance with the trouble code indicated by the AIRBAG warning light, and record the trouble codes.
3. Turn the ignition switch "OFF " and remove the DIAG. terminal from No.2 terminal of diagnosis connector.

HOW TO READ TROUBLE CODES
The ABS lamp flashes a code corresponding to the faulty parts.

The long segment (1.2 secs on) indicates a "ten", and the short segment (0.3 secs on) indicates a "one".





NOTE: This is the only information provided by the manufacturer for clearing diagnostic trouble codes.




CLEAR MEMORY
After eliminating problem as per trouble code, clear memory as follows:

Make sure ignition switch is ON (and engine off). Connect one DIAG. terminal (1) on diagnosis connector (2) terminal No.1.

where warning light is flashing, connect the other DIAG. terminal (3) on terminal No. 2 for at least three seconds . After memory is cleared, normal warning light flashing rate resumes. (Warning light flashes every 0.6 seconds (ON-OFF operation.) Memory cannot be cleared if any problem exists.

After clear memory and then DIAG. terminals (1) and (3), extract from diagnosis connector (2)

that light is your warning light for the brake pads. One of the brake pad sensors is starting to touch the rotor causing the light to come on or flash. Have the brakes checked. You will probably be needing to replace the brakes and the sensors.

Sounds like a bad ABS control module is at least part of your problem. The symptoms are usually and ABS and TRACS light intermittent or constand and eventually your speedometer works intermittently or totally quits. This guy rebuilds/upgrades them for about $140. hello this is a common problem with the dakota ,ohm out your rear abs sensor on the rear end pumpkin.If it is open then both lights will come on .the sensor is not expensive at all or hard to.

It is picking up a signal from one of the wheel sensors probably.

QT5 PERFORM ABS TROUBLE CODE RETRIEVAL

GO to the following ABS Trouble Code Identification Chart in this section and PERFORM Pinpoint Test specified for first code retrieved. If indicator is illuminated constantly, GO to Pinpoint Test D1 . If indicator is not illuminated, GO to Pinpoint Test A1 .
