Hi Anonymous, you may have a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor) and testing your TPS is very simple. It is a potentiometer the same as a radio volume control knob or the float sensor in your gas tank that sends a signal to the fuel gauge. The connector to the TPS has 3 wires, the power wire with 5 volts max is red/white, the ground wire is black/white, and your signal wire to the ECM is gray/violet. Whatever voltage the signal wire reads at the TPS connector in any throttle position should match exactly at the connector to the ECM. There was no video for a Harley to test the TPS, only one from the early Magneti Marelli system that only shows how to set cold and warm idle, so I have enclosed two back to back videos on how to test a car TPS, the procedure and voltage readings in the first video are exactly the same on your Harley as is the ohm readings in the second video. Basically, you want smooth and even readings throughout the throttle plate position from fully closed to fully opened. A new TPS from Harley is $37.00. I don't know if you can take a defective one apart to access the rheostat to see if it just a dirt or corrosion issue that can be repaired with contact cleaner. For more information about your issue please visit the website below. Good luck and have nice a day. Harley Davidson Magneti Marelli Fuel Injection Settings

Hello Brian;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

It sounds like you are pretty capable with a multi-meter. Best tool you could have.

Forget a whole new gas assembly. When you Ohm the ignitor what was your readings. If the ignitor, lights, it could be going bad.
An ignitor can light, glow red, and yet be too week to open the gas valve.

The major failure with your dyer is either the ignitor or the temperature thermal fuse. I think the iginator.

Also check the gas valve. Ohm it out. Sometimes, the valve will sick. You need to knock it with a hammer to start. If it starts, repeat this cycle about 8 times to free the valve up.

One channel thermal overload stays lit and no output from that channel. even after unit sits overnight, thermal light on immediately, unit not hot. Looking for schematic?

Red light is on if:
- thermal protection, overheated amp, bad thermo sensor
- DC at speaker terminals
- high current at output transistors
Also could be a protection circuit malfunction.
In any case you need new channel module or send your module or whole amp for repair here.
Thanks,
Paul

TV has has lamp and thermal sensor replaced since purchased in 2006. Now the TV comes on then shuts off after about 30 seconds and the red light on the front panel stays on. It will not turn back on as...

That is the problem with the new sets the bugs haven't been worked out . The analog sets last longer ,more reliable and have been debugged over decades of time. It sounds like another thermal sensor ,because what is happening is once it cools off you can turn it back on. Try and move it out from the wall or a place where air circulates around it,that should help, This time when the thermal sensor gets replaced tell the guy to put a heat sink on the component to keep it cool.

Can the mass air fow sensor cause hesitation when accelarating?

Yes it could be bad sometimes cleaning it works and sometimes it doesn't. You should wait for the light to come back on and get the code before you buy a MAF sensor as it is expensive. You need to replace your air filter because that is likely that the fibers came off of it. You need to use a high quality stock replacement air filter.

Cooktop burner will be dim and red automatically

when you set a cook top burner to high then it should stay on until the "thermal" limit shuts it off. then the burner will stop glowing. if you dont put a burner on the top, the burner sensor will shut of on the thermal safety.
it is normal but what you need to check is if you pans are flat on the bottom. a bow inwards or outwards will cause the thermal to shut the burner off. the pan needs to "draw" the heat out of the top and allow the burner to operate properly.
most of the time the pans a warped causing the burner to cycle on the limit and then not heat as well as it could with a "flat pan"

The problem you have is a failed thermal sensor. Depending on how tech savvy you are you can replace it.They have changed the way the thermal sensor looks but it isnt too bad too put in. Any repair shop should also be able to do this for you.
