I turned on my 08 gsxr 600 and just had it idling for a few minutes. The temp shot up to around 214 degrees and the temperature light came on. shortly after, the bike just turned off. When I tried to start it again, it wouldn't turn on. Every time I tried starting it, it made a sound like a drained battery would make. But if it was the battery, why would the bike just turn off like that while idling. That is the really confusing thing to me. And even when the temperature dropped to like 190, it still didn't start so that's also confusing as far as an overheating problem.
When the engine is idling, the alternator is not charging. Starting the bike will drain a weak battery. A fast idle (1000 rpm or so) will quickly recharge the battery. If the battery is dead and the alternator is not charging the bike will not run. Check the connections at the battery. Remove and clean them. Check the main fuse and all other fuses. (The temp indication may be a false reading due to other problems.)
SOURCE: will not start now!
Could also be a bad rectifier not sending the proper voltage back to the battery for charging or you just got a bad battery. Since you just put in a new battery I'd suspect that and have it checked at the shop you bought it from.

the carbs are proberbly blocked, you might have rust in your tank that will keep blocking, put an inline fuel filter in and get carbs cleaner, you also got a flat battery, give i little revs until it starts then adjust the idle
SOURCE: just purchased a 08 gsxr 600 and its getting water in oil.
that bike has a cracked cylinder heaeed or even a cracked block.
Water in Oil is the key sign of an abused bike.

The display is really FI as in Fuel Injection. The fuel injection computer has sensed a fault in the Injection system. You will need to ride the bike to a dealer and have them read the fault codes. It is probably just something minor. Major faults will not allow the bike to run. You will not hurt the bike if you ride it.
Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer?

200° is quite warm...
If the engine wont turn over, probabily you have a bad battery, a bad starter or a bad starter relay, or bad connections.
A hot engine has more compression. If the full battery power doesn't reach the starter it won't turn over...
