Savage 2008, when I am climbing on a cold weather mountain the traction stops suddenly by 2 or 3 seconds, the engine never dies, it continues accelerating but it does not pull, and then when the motorcycle runs again it produce an explosion at the back pipe. The fail is always at the same geographic place. is on the freeway going up at 10200 ft. What could it be. Help please. It is the same sensation when you are running on the motorcycle and the motorcycle ask you to move the fuel valve to reserve because of the low fuel.

sounds like the needle and seat may be the problem

To start with it sounds as though your floats heights are out. Also you may need new neeedle & seats because they could be leaking fuel. One of the best things you can do is get a workshop manual for this bike. It will give you setting for you carbies, eg. float heights, mixture screw settings, & also problem solving solutions.I hope this a help to you.
Regrades Lighten.

ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher on hand when working on carburetors.
Open the petcock, (gas valve), and drain 1/2 cup of gas from the tank. Did the fuel flow freely? Is there any water or trash in the cup?
Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower right side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.
Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Check the float height. The fuel level in the bowl may be low. Bend the tang (in the center of the float) downward to raise the fuel level. EASY, a little bend goes along way. Put the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine.

Replace the petcock. The rubber diaphragm is ruptured. I'd also bet your fuel mileage dropped cause the ruptured diaphragm is allowing raw fuel to be sucked into the intake manifold.

If the bike has sat for a long period of time without being run - the gas that is sitting in the carb(s) will shellac.. Then the carb(s) would need to be cleaned and "rebuilt"..
