How old is the battery? The extreme heat of summer and the extreme cold in winter take a toll on batteries often causing intermittant starting problems if the battery is four years old or more, or if it is a cheapo battery that is a few years old that is probably the problem.
If it stops when put in gear it could be the side stand switch, If this switch is dodgy it could cause intermittant problems.
but this doesnt fully explain the no acceleration problem
It sounds like the main control board is going bad . This controls every part on the fridge , except for the light bulbs . It's located on the back of the refrig , behind an 8" X 10" panel , with about 11 screws , holding the panel on . Part number WR55X10656 .
I am having this same problem, and it seems quite intermittant. I have finally narrowed it down to an electrical issue, somewhere on the control circuit board (which I have sitting in front of me right now.) I'm going to see if I can buy a new one, and for how much, before calling out the repairman.
It turned out to be the three door attachments that weren't lined up. It has been fixed. We almost bought a new one because Samsung referred us to a service that would have charged way too much to be worth it even thought the machine is only 3 or so years old. Luckily, we looked further. A local independent appliance fixer came to the house and took care of it within a few hours of my call! Yea!
sounds like the starting device for the compressor clicking on/off not always starting, hopefully under 5 years old cause sounds like a bad compressor(full 5 yr warr on on that)
