Actually an 82 gs 1100 gl. i keep randomly blowing the 15 amp main fuse at different rpm ranges, and sometimes just starting the bike. voltage regulator? or possibly the mag. spark seems a little weak.

it could be a front brake lever switch or a coroaded ground going from frame starter relay or going to batttery

Most likely cause is an old wire worn through on or near the frame or engine where it is earthing out and blowing the fuse

SOURCE: need help to connect fuel lines 82 suzuki gs 750

the solution is very simple
there are 2 nipples underneath the petrol tank
the upper nippel should be conected to the venturi nipple because this on opens the valve (can try by light sucking on it)
the second ore lower nippel should be conected to the carbs there is a conection in the middle of the four carb's
please be sur you use fresh petrol and clean the carbs (using compressed air)

when you try without cleaning filter it wil run but not wen you open the trottle (it's because of the vacuum carb's they need the veturi that is placed in the air filter compartment)

lots of suc 6

SOURCE: I need tuning specs for my 1982 suzuki gs 750.

You need to fix the fueling first - without fuel it won't run!
Your other problem sounds like an air leak - either the manifold or the carb. Check by spraying WD-40 or CRC at the manifold and carb join while the bike is running - if the revs change (either up or down) you have a leak.

SOURCE: 1982 Suzuki GS850 GL will only run with the starter button held

Obviously the CDI is picking up power from the starter button. Check the ignition key switch for proper operation. Chances are that whatever fried the loom also fried part of the switch. Alternate to that, trace the wire powering the CDI system, disconnect it at the source (starter button connection), then find a power source that is live only when the key is turned on and then hook the CDI wire up there.

My 1982 gs550 L will start fine but when it turns off the main fuse will blow every single time!

If you don't start the bike....just turn it on and off...does the fuse blow...or only if engine starts and stops?

If not starting engine still blows fuse, and it only blows shutting key off...I would inspect ignition switch for a short.

I have a 82 gl 1100 goldwing. The previous owner

The fuse on the starter solenoid is the main fuse for the bike. If that fuse was removed and replaced with a wire, you could melt down the entire harness or even burn up the cycle. The short that was popping the fuse has probably melted part of the harness or popped fuses in another part of the bike. Start checking in the main fuse box in the fake tank for shorts. Also check the solenoid with the main fuse for melt down, good luck.
