Why the transmission won't separate from the engine

The transmission is manual, and I can't get the two to come apart. It's out of the car and I have removed all the bolts. what's causing it to be stuck, and what else do I need to do to break it loose? Should the transmission be in neutral and how can I tell being that it is not hooked up to the shift linkage in the car?

It will take quite a bit of pulling and wiggling to get the clutch pressure plate to disengage from the drive shaft, doing this when the engine and trans is out of car is more difficult than when the engine is insitue as you have nothing to pull against ,have you got the engine off the ground and the gearbox hanging out with nothing below it ,you need the engine strapped down on a bench with the gearbox hanging over edge then this should give you enough room to pull/wiggle the thing apart, dont resort to prying between tthe housing's etc good luck

How to remove1995 cavalier transmission

The transmission is transversely mounted in these vehicles. The mount that secures the transmission to the body is also supporting the engine. If you want to remove the transmission without also removing the engine you will have to support the engine once you remove the transmission mount. You will need to remove the drivers side wheel, caliper, and rotor. You then need to remove the drivers side CV shaft. You will need to separate the lower ball joint in order to remove the shaft and to provide working room to separate the transmission from the engine. You need to disconnect the Shift cable (automatic) or slave cylinder (manual) from the transmission. You must separate the passengers side CV shaft from the transmission, but you do not need to full y remove it. Ensure that you do not separate the inner CV joint when pulling the transmission free from the inner splines. Remove the flywheel shield plate. If automatic transmission, unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel. Disconnect any electrical connections from the transmission. If automatic transmission, disconnect the hydraulic lines running to the radiator. Unbolt the transmission from the engine at the bell housing. Automatic transmissions will come out fairly easy...manuals you must pull back to disengage the transmission splines from the clutch disc.

Bad oil leak

Well, they need separating to get to the seal, so if the transmission can be removed without pulling them both out at once, you could do the seal with the engine in the car and the transmission removed. Buy a Haynes repair manual and see if transmission can be removed with the engine in the car. You will need a manual, anyway, for either procedure-either engine and transmission together out of the car, and then separated, or the transmission alone removed.

I Have everything separated from the transmission and engine and they are both currently hanging in the engine compartment. i have removed evry bolt that holds the two together and we can get the...

If it is a stick, you can just push the clutch pedal to separate them.
But you do want to be sure you have removed everything, such as starter, torque convertor if it is an automatic, the cover for the bottom of the bellhousing if it is a manual transmission, etc.
You also have to have both supported. Put a rolling hydraulic jack under each one, or use a cable hoist from above.

Hyundie 1300 Accent Hatchback year of manufacture 2000. Is the transmission lubricated via the engine or is it separate and filled manually.

Hi,
Off course! The engine oil is different from tranny lubrication! Fill the engine oil via engine oil cap. If u have an automatic transmission, check the level of ATF by looking at the transmission dipstick. and fill it up via dipstick tube. If you have a manual tranny, check the gear oil via inlet nut under the transmission.
Hope that clears everything!

the problem has to be in the linkage inside the transmission which means that you have to take into a mechanic to have them fix this because if you do not know how to take the transmission apart yourself is the reason why to take it to the nearest mechanic. Sorry
