SOURCE: How to remone the gas tank on a 1967 BSA Royal
Do so very carefully, or you run the risk of damaging or ruining it because of its age.
Drain the gas, if any.
Identify where it mounts on the frame and how it is fastened (nuts, bolts, screws, etc). Apply liberal doses of a product called PB B'laster which you can get at almost any auto parts store (do not use WD-40 or anything else, B'laster is the best for this kind of thing).
This is important: Spray it several times thoughout the day, then let it sit overnight! Use the correct size tool, carefully and without excessive force, and if you're lucky, the nuts or bolts will come right off without breaking. Do NOT force them. Apply a second treatment if necessary, it won't hurt.
