Hi Anonymous, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
The noise happens when you engage into 1st gear, or when you start moving? when you reduce speed there is no clonk?

    Hi,

When do you hear the clonk? when you are changing from neutral to first gear, or when you start driving? if when driving, does it makes the noise also when you are accelerating and the cut off accelerator?

You haven't put the clutch down! Perhaps the clutch is binding even though you have. Does it go into gear easily? No clonks or undue difficulty? It's not an automatic is it? More info. please

could be clutch, but check for bent shifter lever or adjustment. Indicator switch could be faulty but you would see it more with neutral light coming on false. If you bang gears (power shift ) or clutchless shift the dog could be bad also

Clonk/know from engine when first driving off in 1st gear

Have the transmission checked, this could be a torque converter issue. It settles down after it starts and fills with fluid again.
